Rent first then u can decide which areas u like.Got a mate who has a real estate company,very honest too.Also my cousin owns a couple of companies who can set up off shore accounts/financial advice/stock market etc,and very very honest.

My advice would be to NOT get in a hurry doing anything. You can buy a vehicle anywhere but beware on the tent sellers. They are like most used car salesmen and will tell you anything you want to hear. You may decide that you don't like the Pattaya area. I think further south near Ban Chang is a delightful area.

 

Don't get connived into buying a house via a Thai company. It is clearly illegal regardless of what real estate agents or slippery lawyers tell you. Foreigners cannot own property in Thailand except for a condo that falls in the farang 49 percent portion.

Depending on how much experience you have with not only Pattaya but Thailand as a whole, you might try a one year vacation then decide if you would like living there on a permanant basis. Thailand is not the same full time as it is on a two week holiday.

Good advice. Pattaya is a place for single men and even some of them get fed up with the commercialisation after the false smiles wear off so you might want to stay out of the centre of things after a while so rent don't buy and keep looking round for a place you really take to. Things change quickly in Pattaya and good neighbours can be replaced by bad ones overnight. I'd advise you to rent a condo and give yourselves time to get the lay of the land.

 

In central Pattaya you won't want a car as transport is cheap and reliable but driving is a nightmare. Neighbours will put you right on things like TV rental etc.

You definitely don't need a car IMO, motobikes are the preferred way of getting around town. For the odd occasion you need a car just hire a taxi or rent one, buying a car is pretty expensive in Thailand. And I would rent a apartment/condo to start with for a good period of time.

Just curious, have you and your husband visited Pattaya before and are you ok with him banging Thai girls? Do you like to join in the fun? How do you know of Pattaya?
