Thanks a lot Baht! Any ideas on prices?

I do not know sorry. All depends how big the Tat is. If I was going to have it done then I would go to the hospital which is probably more expensive than the other place but you will know you will be dealing with medical professionals.Your best bet would be to email either of the links I gave you and ask them.

just curious if tattoos done with guns are harder to remove than those done using bamboo.

Probably. A good tattoo artist puts the ink in just below the skin. The deeper the ink, the more likely lines will spread with age. If you look at how much your lines have thickened up, that will be some indication of how easily it will be to remove. In the states, it's expensive to have done. I would think that in Canada, it would be part of their medical. I looked into it in Pattaya, it was a whole lot cheaper to do there, than at home. I never did get around to doing it though.

no ink myself. and there is no way Canadian medical would cover the procedure.

Okay, then why are you asking?

Hi,

I don't know anything about tatoos, but just a warning:

I saw some girls with really horrific marks after removing a tatoo. :(

Don't know what happened and where they made it remove,

but better to think twice about it and to ask for a really good place to remove it...

For black ink, 3 x 3cm, approx 10k baht over the course of a year (10 - 12 visits). Darkness of skin is a factor on what kind of mark is left, commonly a white impression where the tattoo used to be. Different color inks require different wavelength lasers, some more painful than others. Everybody I know that has had this done has said it is significantly more painful than the actual tattoo. This includes one friend that had a full shoulder/arm piece removed so he could have it redone. His shoulder was constantly swollen and tender for a week after each treatment.

My only advice is if you do need to do it, get it done at a hospital, not a clinic or tattoo studio.

More painful than the tatto and the healing is a pain...the itching for me is the worst. As you get further along you get bleeding with it as well and as it's flushed through your kidneys it hits your immune system.

I had laser removal done to lighten up before a cover up a few years back. The laser breaks up the pigment which the body naturally disposes of. Different colours react differently to the laser. Light coloured ink ie yellow reflect the laser light back so it takes longer to break down than black which absorbs more of the energy.

Most tattoos are lined in black with a 1 or 3 point needle which put the ink in deeper than a 7 or 11 point used for blocking in. So a fine black line can take as many sessions to remove as a block of colour. Sessions is the key word. I had 10 sessions to fade my prison tattoo to a state where it could be covered up. As the previous poster said they never go away. Removing all the pigment leaves a scar. In normal light that scar can be seen. UV light and tanning make it more obvious.

The laser itself is an expensive piece of kit and the operator needs to be trained. I am not sure I would trust it to a Thai. It is more a thing you would find a beautician using. Dark haired Asian women use the same tool to get rid of their unwanted facial hair. The guy that did me was a hairy arsed biker but he was real proud of passing the exam with a load of Sharon and Tracy type nail technicians.

It doesnt hurt. There is a sharp click and it feels like getting twanged with an elastic band. After 50 or 60 times you dont feel it. The first session left me a mess of small blisters. Some of which merged together to form bigger blisters. My second session I blistered less. From then on not at all.

I paid £20 a session each of which lasted about 30 minutes. Different lenses (diffusers...!!?) have to be changed during the session to be used on different depths of pigments. So its a bit of messing about. The work gets more intricate and skilled (Thai..?) the more the colour fades.

What the Thai girls have done is acid put on them to burn the pigment and flesh away. A laser involves a bit more finesse.

There are many different opinions about having tattos and then for those with jobs and professions where it might be slightly unwanted etc. but having a tatto and getting it removed is purely a personal thing in my opinion. However, if you plant to remove a tattoo, you better get the best services so that there are no side effects and other hazards attached. I do know one in Houston area though i.e. http://www.alwaysyouthful.com/houston-laser-tattoo-removal-texas.php it is a good one
