Returning to Penthouse - Quick Questions

Recommended Posts

Me and my band of merry men have just booked up to return to Dudleys Funhouse - aka the Penthouse on Pattayaland 2 in april.  :D

Has anyone recently stayed there?

if so what is the new pool like?

is there any new scams happening to watch out for? (last year mystery mini bar bills was about the only one i had trouble with)

Has the Kats nightclub improved?  ???

Cheers G (not taking the limo servide this year!!!)

Hi how did you manage to book up?

I've sent them 2 faxes over the past week and several emails but have had no confirmation. They reckon the first fax disappeared and I have n't heard anyhting about the second one.

Beginning to wonder if I should try elsewhere, anyone have suggestion for somewhere with similar location?

Cheers Chip...

I have stayed there twice and have never seen a bug. I love the place, nice and sleazy. They do have a problem though with reconfirming reservations, but everything has always worked our for me. I will be staying there again in late May and eary June.

After repeated emails and several faxes I eventually got the standard email response from them I had two week ago.

"Please fill in this reservation form and fax it to us"

Too much hassle and too many roach reports for me so I'm now staying at the Queen Vic. on Soi 6

I stayed there the first week of February, didn't book just took a taxi from the airport straight to the hotel, I got a nice room but was expensive ($75) even though I got a discount (5%) because I offered to pay one week in advance.

The room was clean, had a DVD player, 2 TV’s and a music system and they used to make it up twice a day (only when you leave).

The Jacuzzi didn't work properly and was too noisy so didn't bother with it after the first use.

Swimming pool looked OK, although it was always empty, again didn't bother to use it.

As for cockroaches, only saw small one, in the whole week of stay. Mind you every morning I used to have some insects bites.

They place so many items in your room (Champagne, T shirt, condoms, hairbrush, shampoos, creams, etc...), which makes it difficult for you to watch for all these things when a girl come and stay with you). They had no problem with guests and they never charged extra for them, so you could have somebody staying with you the whole period if you wanted.

My mobile was stolen which I'm sure by one of the staff of the hotel because when I left in the morning It was there but when I went back it wasn't. Luckily I had my sim card removed from it and placed separately.

When I reported this to the reception I was told why I didn’t place it in the safe deposit.

Finally one thing which bothered me was the lights, I used to make an effort to switch off the whole lights as there were too many switches, (more than ten).

This was done everyday because the cleaners used to switch them on every time they make up the room.

As for the kitten's club I went there couple of times, I liked the place, very friendly people, I picked up a girl which was really nice.

I would probably go back to the Hotel and give it one more chance but I still keep my eyes open for other places, so my advice for everybody who wants to visit is to try it for couple of nights first before paying them for a whole week (in order to get the 5% discount).

I would give it 7/10

Chip...

On the subject of the Queen Vic, ask Bert {owner} if he can get you into a "flat"...They are spacious and very clean.. I really liked those rooms for the price and Bert is a very gracious host...

Greg_b:

Did ask for a penthouse room (one with balcony) - is that the same as a flat? but they were already fully booked :D

S i'm now in a superior room, would have been handy having a balcony to dry all my clothes out on since I'm gonna be around over Songkran  :)

Penthouse room is the same as a "flat"...There is a high % of "no-shows", stay in touch with Bert and see what he can do. Remember to take your room key, if you plan to be out after midnight. The place closes and you must use the fire escape to get in. Actually, it the best way to get in/out of the place anyway.

Bert is a very good owner, with a good personality {unlike Stephan of the Haven Hotel} The place has a great English Pub and it's usually full of customers.

KJ Vegas turned me on to this place and I'm very happy with it. Didn't try the Pool Pass to the Hard Rock, but it is availabe for the asking..

I've stayed at the Penthouse on several occasions without any problems, That is until my last and final visit!

My room was crawling with roaches, the air sucked and the room was a sweat box. Then to make matters worse they are always working on the joint, nothing like the sound of hammers and electric saws at 9am. I comlpained and was told there was nothing that could be done....The chick at the front desk was a total bitch!

One last thing was the food......Shit I tell you I wouldn't feed that crap to my dog! Try Lek hotel on 2nd road..I liked it!

I have stayed there every trip to Pattaya since 2000.  If they have been losing your faxes it means that they don't have the room that you want.  Eventually they will give you the booking and then downgrade your room when you get there.  They did this to me the last two times I stayed there.  I managed to get the premier room that I had reserved only by being ready to walk out the door last November and in January 2003 I was taken to the room without even being told that I was downgraded.

aardvark - cheers for the info, i sent three faxes and three e-mails and heard nothing back...  >:D

they aint charged my card either so to hell with them... we have booked the flipper lodge instead!!!  :D

While we enjoyed it last year, the complaints of cock roaches and lack of a yes or no from them has cost them our booking....  :P

nevermind.. the flipper seems to get a glowing reference from all who have been... roll on april the 6th !!!!   ;D

I took two guys to see the place 2 weeks ago. They were staying in the Hard Rock and I grabbed Dudley and introduced them. They wanted the 2 best rooms for a 10 day stay in late March.

I wanted to show them the rooms but he couldn't be bothered. So I apologised to the lads and Dud did a swift about turn, until one guy just told him that if he couldn't be arsed then he could f*ck off.

Sayed in the Penthouse over ten times now, had to kill the odd roach but other then that I like it. Dont know if the roach problem is worse in some rooms then others. Agree the restaurant is poor but your not forced to eat there. I think every hotel gets a bad report from someone at some time but for me the Penthouse is my first choice.
