Just love these things, and one strategically placed in the room will greatly enhance tilaks ability to knock up a decent steak and eggs at silly o'clock in the morning. But, can Big C provide, or do i have to resort to the long haul? Cheers!

Reading the instructions, there is no mention of dual voltage.Possibly they convert automatically like some appliances though. My 120v model has a polarized plug I'm on the phone with them now.Walmart has killer prices on some models:George Foreman 120" Non-Stick Grill

$29.00

Was just informed by their product support at 800 231 9786 that they do not convert or sell a 220v model.

Here's a link for their website:http://www.georgeforemancooking.com/

I was just in LOS for a couple of months end of June through end of August. The girlfriend saw a TV advertisement for a similar but different brand grill and liked it. Later I happened to see a small Foreman Grill when walking through a store and asked if she wanted one. She took a look and thought it was inferior to other available brands so we did not buy it.

My only purpose for relating this story is to let you know I did see a small George Foreman grill for sale in Thailand. Unfortunately I cannot remember where I saw it. We spent time in Pattaya, Bangkok and Isaan and it could have been any of those locations.

Several years ago, i had one shipped from Australia. The duty at the customs port was outrageous , but it's been well worth it.

Over the years, the Teflon coating has deteriorated, and I had a friend bring a small one from the UK.

I'd certainly not have gone to the trouble if I knew they were available in Thailand.

LasRobos, I wish you'd remember where you saw one for sale in Thailand, because I'd drive, fly, or bus there to get another.

I got an electric drill to bring back this trip...... sorry. But with the regular circle of visitors surely you could get one brought out from Oz/UK, as an alternative to the Camels.

I'll ask the girlfriend if she remembers. The one drawback was it was a very small one. Probably room for one medium sized steak.

The full size family style (the kind my girl likes) are quite heavy and bulky..

You got me thinking one would be nice here...I have the usual Thai kitchen arrangement of just gas rings and a microwave. Have a hankering for a toasted sandwich now and again.

They are great for grilling steaks, salmon, chops. It's as close to bbq as you can get without flames...and they cook very fast.

The key is the slanted surface that lets the juices roll down rather than staying with the meat and essentially boiling it.

You're just being silly this morning.

Now I'm not going to offer you a steak dinner.

I was just looking at the range on his UK site.

Quite tempting as, strangely, one thing I miss is 'cheese on toast' and his 'Grill and Melt' looks like it could do a good job.

I might make a bit of a mess though when I get in hungry after a night out, I do simply making microwave popcorn.

Make sure to wash them as soon as you have finnished using them. Mine sat for six months and when i finally cleaned it all the teflon fell off and it looked like it had electrolysis..

Yeah, mine got ruined by the maids cleaning it with iron cleaning pads.

Yeah, they sure don't seem to appreciate TEFLON coating. I've had a few pans ruined, but I'd be fumed if they did it to the Foreman Grill.

Mine is 110v & the big'un (heavy), so it's staying behind, but it would be nice to pick up one in LOS if they're available.

I saw a really good deal on one at Bed, Bath, and Beyond during my nesting stage, getting set with all my favorite things to take back to Thailand. I bought it and then thought about the voltage difference. After a little reading of the specs and a bit of research, it turned out the thing required 1000 watts.

Shopping for a transformer that would step down 220 to 110 I found one costing 3 times the price of the grill and weighing 3 times as much.

I'm not an electronics guy.I thought initially one of those gadgets you use for shavers and phones would work.

Hence the ordering from Australia.

I try to buy multi-voltage devies whenever I can, especially if they're portable. Even my 22" monitor is rated 70-250v, but I can see me taking that to LOS, as it's LED and quite thin and light.

I love my Foreman Grill, but couldn't be bothered carrying it to LOS on the first trip. Shame about the teflon coating getting screwed by the maid. I coat mine with a light spray of cooking oil before starting, works wonders on cleaning it, but as mentioned it should be cleaned while it's still warm.

I would have thought the same. So, no point in dragging a four portion family grill out there if it aint gonna work. Can't say I fancy quadrupling the price and probably doubling the weight by jumping in for the transformer too. Hmmmm, back to the drawing board it seems....

Right, plan B. What are the other brands called that your gf thought superior, and where can they be purchased? Cheers!
