Ryder Cup 2012 - Medinah, Illinois

Recommended Posts

Compulsory viewing this coming weekend as the US hosts the battle of the big guns and the Brits wrap themselves in blue and gold to cheer on various Belgians, Germans, Italians and Swedes. Bad news for the Euros 'cos I'm predicting a 1-2 point win in their favour. Any other comments/predictions?

The U.S. will be very hard to beat at home me thinks Tom and Love has pledged to set the course up with the rough short so it will be a bomber's paradise.

Expect a birdie/eagle feast!

Westwood's irregular form a major concern for Europe, as is Kaymer's whose game has gone AWOL! Hope they can turn it around.

Tiger and McIlroy to go head to head on Sunday?

Should be a great show!

Poulter will be pumped!

As they are such a bunch of "abject failures and ne'er-do-wells" but will be urged on by the US version of "Football Hooligans" ( afraid I can't take the plaudits for those minor media descriptions): I'd be banking on a win for USA ! :ninja: :gone

I'm really looking forward to this.

The USA look too strong this year but you never know. A raucous crowd gees up everyone.

Personally, I felt sorry for Hunter Mehan last time.....Glad he lost, but sorry for the bugger in the after-match interview. I'd have liked to see him get another chance........And lose this time too! I'm such a bastard!

Hi,

I hope Europe win. It will be hard to beat the US at home though. At least I've lived to see Europe kicking US ass several times. Never though I'd ever see that.

Great stuff! Olé, olé olé olé!

Well done to both teams! That puts the cat amongst the pigeons in the fight for Team of the Year in the BBC Sports Personality annual bash. :ninja:

Oops! From Sunday's Boston Herald ... In it's own way, the article sums up perfectly why the US got beat.

Tom:

It was a great match and had about as much to do with what some guy wrote in the Herald as me betting on Sergio today. Don't you think similar articles could be found in European Sunday morning papers during the 99 Cup?

Oh crap.

Davis Love (USA captain) totally screwed the pooch.,

Great victory for Europe.

Greatest collapse in USA golfing history. I can't expressed how pissed off I am. I'm pissed off at the Chicago cop that gave Rory Mcllroy a ride to the course. Damn.

But Davis Love deserves all the loathing.

Zack Johnson and Jason Duffner go 3-1 -- their only loss due to Mcllroy/ Ian Poulter birdying the last 6 holes in a row on Saturday. Brilliant golf by the Europeans.

Dustin Johnson goes 3-0.

And Davis Love sat these 3 hot golfers for his friend and life-long PGA Tour buddies Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods?

Stricker goes 0-4 and single handedly loses the f-ing Ryder Cup? And Tiger wins his lone Ryder Cup half point AFTER the collapse?

I would say that this sets USA Golf back 30, 40 or even 50 years. But the reality is USA golf has never, ever been this low.

President Hurbert H. Hoover can not be held more accountable for the Great Drepression than Davis Love III is completely accountable for the debacle of the USA Ryder Cup 2012. Tragic.

I watched all night.......kept putting off going to bed because every match was so riveting.

I thought both teams played well. USA won 2 days crushingly so. If not for Poulter on the 2nd day it would have been over.

On the last day they were all heroes. Poulter again over the trees and Rose's putt stand out but I'm sure when i watch it all again tonight others will be seen to stand out.

USA should understand it was so close...It could have gone either way right up to Tiger. It may finish him though! Hope not.

Having seen the ending again I've changed my mind again. Woods was being sporting .....I think.

Just read the US and UK press.

Americans are being harshly tough on their team. But perhaps less tough than they should be on Woods who's excuse for missing that putt and conceeding was that they'd already lost as a team and a draw don't matter. "It's not important to finish"

This event I hope is the making of Bradley and others, from both sides. As for Woods I still hope he's not finished but he shouldn't be picked for the USA again.

Hi,

Great fightback by Europe after taking a beating on the first 2 days. I still find it hard to believe they turned it round. Poulter showed great bottle, a gooner as well. :clap1

Well, the point is that it wasn't just "what some guy wrote in the Herald". ESPN gave us an alternative view ....

Don't you think similar articles could be found in European Sunday morning papers during the 99 Cup?

If there was, then:

a. I can't find them.

b. Europe deserved everything that eventually came their way.

Anyway, from the guys at ESPN ...

I didn't think that Europe could do it, but they sure as hell did. Apparently the USA team read too many articles about how they couldn't lose, ROFLMAO, Tiger is washed up and Davis Love should go hide somewhere. Tiger's ex-wife is looking smarter and smarter as time goes by. Bye Bye Tiger, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, you are overrated at the very best.

No, like some journalists, they (or at least the Captain) just thought all they had to do was turn up on Sunday to collect the trophy.

From ESPN ...

"We're all kind of stunned," Love said. "We know what it feels like now from the '99 Ryder Cup. It's a little bit shocking. We were playing so well, we figured it didn't matter how we sent them out there. We got a couple of matches flipped there in the middle that cost us."

There have been some monumental folds/comebacks in Ryder Cup history but has any team had 3 players lose the final 2 holes on the final day to lose the Cup?I believe the answer is no.
