I'm looking for a hotel that has a shower large enough for two - I don't care about a bathtub.  I'd also like to keep the price to less than 1200 baht (1000 would be even better).

I want to try a new place so please recommend hotels other than the following:

On Soi 2

  Sabai Inn

  Sabai Lodge

On Soi 3

  Sunshine Vista

Patayaland 2

  Penthouse

Residence Garden (great hotel but the location isn't great)

Places that I'm considering:

1) Hotel Koenig (I know it's near Sunee Plaza)

2) Yen Sabai Condos (also near Sunee Plaza)

3) Soi 7 & Soi 8 hotels (disadvantage:  if you barfine in that area then the inevitable cat calls will fire up as walk past with your latest love).

Most of the Flipper Lodge rooms have a shower that is big enough for 4 or 5.  They don't really have a screen at all: Makes for a continually wet bathroom floor I find though ! ;)

Which Flipper Lodge are you referring to:  Soi 7 or Soi 8?

Soi 7 one is the same, at least in the mini suites (which is a bit of an overstatement, slightly bigger room but big big tub.

I stayed at the penthouse, it had a shower the size for 2, good luck getting a Tg to shower with you, the ones I had liked to do their own thing solo, which probally includes douching.

My room was $40.00 a night  ;) M_H

The Hotel Koenig has large rooms with either a shower or a bath with a shower. The ones with shower only are the normal Thai layout where the shower is in the corner of the bathroom and there is no seperate shower tray. There is a curtain across the bathroom so there will be plenty of room for you plus one or two "guests".

I have stayed at the Koenig two times and I have booked again for February so I must like it. The owner, Eddy, is the German Basil Fawlty and that makes the place a lot of fun. Guest friendly with a bar next to the lobby where you can select a short time if you are too lazy to go downtown! The bar goes by the unfortunate name of "Queens Bar" but that is just Eddy's command of the English language showing a few flaws - it is certainly not a gay bar!

If you want to make an enquiry, mail to holiday@hotelkoenig.com

Have fun.

Roof Garden Inn has great walk-in glass showers, easily fitting 2-3 occupants.  The rooms run 650-700 baht and it is less than two years after renovation I believe.  And they keep 'em spotless from my experience.  Just up the road (toward Jontein) from Residence Gardens a couple hundred meters on the right.  It's walk-up though; no lift .

stevens365,

The standard rooms in the Sabai Inn, Soi 2 have showers easily big enough for 1+3 (superior rooms have a bathtub and shower combined).  Make sure you arrange with the maid for extra towels!

Prices are 700 Baht in low season (1 May-31 Oct) and 800 Baht in high season.  Prices are without ABF - add 90 Baht per person if brekkie is a must.

Regards,

Tom
