Hi,

As to the RG i think it is highly overated. The accomadation is great. The beds look big but are two beds put together I injured my knee and was buggered for 7 days from useful sex . I do not go on holiday to cook, kitchen in room, and when i ordered a breakfeast in the room 10% extra the meal was bloody awlful. Dumped on the table no salt pepper sauce etc. and no knifes forks etc. we were supposed to use our own and clean them after,  even my TG was disappoined with her meal. I moved to a hotel which cost less than 600B and was a lot better.

I never had 2 beds put together??

If you had a t.g worth an ounce she would have loved to cook for you,i had some great breakfasts cooked for me on the balcony,ok i washed up after she cooked (big deal)..

What hotel doesn,t charge 10% room service???

Come on let everyone know the name of the hotel it costs less than 600 baht and is better than the r.g.

dont keep it a secret it sounds good for all of us???

I just returned from a month long stay in LOS and I spent the entire time at the RG.    I found the place to be great, clean rooms, great staff, excellent food.

As for the checking of the ID cards, it wasn't really something I even thought about.  I am sure that if I had asked the security guard who got the elevator for my date and I each night he would have recorded it.  Like I said it was something I didn't think of.  When we returned to the room I would put everything in the safe as she showered.  There was nothing for her to take.

As for the 2 beds, I never had this problem.  The whole room was more than what I could have wanted.

As for the distance from the action, I never walked it.  There was no need, the baht bus passes by like what seems like every minute.   When the traffic was bad the security guard would come out and stop traffic.

There is a great little internet cafe right next door and a very good laundry service across the street.    The place has everything I wanted and I will be staying there again on my next trip.

Eneukman, it was great meeting you there and I hope we can hook up for a beer or FLB party next time.

I like the RG. Have stayed twice and will stay again. I love it

But, let's get it right. Some rooms DO have 2 beds pushed together, though. I think I was in room 502. It was stupidly made up to look like it was one bed which is an accident waiting to happen. I didn't realise until I put my hand through the gap by mistake. Fortunately, I stopped myself falling through. It could have been serious as Doolish found out.

I found my food to be okay but my BG refused to eat her tom yam as it was "no good". I've known her over a year and this is the only time she's refused to eat Thai food.

Monochromeman,

Please tell me if the food you are referring to is at the Captain's Corner restaurant, located next to the Residence Gardens,  or some other eatery close by.  Thanks.

Cheers, Scott - good to meet you (and Felice again) as well. I hope to be back in November next year at the same time and to make a permanent move about 8 or 9 months after that.

I stay at Residence Garden and like it and will stay there again next time.

I will write a hotel review if I can ever be arsed.

I have read the reviews about rooms not being cleaned etc, all I can say is that my room was spotless, the cleaners turned up every day at 13:00 so that became my wake up call and I sat on the balcony (with TG) whilst they cleaned and they SCRUBBED everything every day.

I always ask for a double bed and check to see I have one.  If it was not I would have them change it.

The only potential issue I can see is location.  The RG is about a 15 minute walk from Walking Street.  I prefer this as during the day I like to be away from the nonsense.  Some people want to be in it all the time, for them the RG does not make sense.

I generally walked in to town of an evening stopping off at a few bars on the way, but you don't need to, the baht buses run in a line from the next street over from walking street to Jomtien and back again, past the RG's door.  These buses run 24/7.  I have never had to wait more than 30 seconds at any time day or night.  Cost is 10 baht, which is the small change you would not do anything with anyway.  There seems to have been a huge debate on this board about how much falangs pay.  I pay 10 baht (per head) and this has never been questioned by the driver.  I think the tip is you don't talk to the driver, get on the bus, get off, hand 10 baht through the window and walk away.  Easy.  I personally don't like the motorbike taxis, I am wearing a t shirt, shorts and trainers, hitting the ground means a skin graft, not pleasant.

So as long as the location is not an issue for you I don't think the RG can be beaten.
