I was reading in one of the Pattaya newspapers that permission had been given to build a new passenger terminal at Utapao, it was suggested that some low cost airlines may move from Don Mueang.

If you'll excuse the pun, within the next 10 years Utapao will really take off.

I wouldn't expect Eva and Thai to start flying internationally from there but there will certainly be better options than Bangkok airways to Samui and Phuket.

I think there's already (or just about to be) a flight between Utapao and Siem Reap. It's mentioned on another thread here. I too doubt they'll ever use it for any of the long-hauls, but natural to expect more int'l options within the region.

I think you can book with Solar Air at the moment - whether the booking process is OK through to completion though, I have no idea. The booking process isn't on a secure site ...
