Flag to BM's Location/Avatar

Sorry if this has been asked before, but, what was the the reasoning behind the decision to remove the flag from beneath the posters name when posting?

 

I thought it useful to know what part of the world a poster/question came from, as maybe relevant to reply.

Not sure what you mean Fatboyfat? I just thought flights, location, backround, surely would sift trolls, etc?

It was some technical issue with the switch to the newer forum software. Showing the flag was a "customization" that was difficult to support release to release.

The decision was to save work.

I imply that the flag is superfluous, since your 'country' is written there under your avatar, as is all BMs. if they choose to reveal it..

I am unsure as to whether it is OK, never actually been there, been to Ireland, the Guinness was great.
