Couple Of Places Have Deteriorated

In my original post I said that I had heard that the 18 coins had a new chef and that I would give it a try.

I went for sunday lunch yesterday and had the 129 baht special; roast pork and chicken,Yorkshire, veg, roast and mash.

Honestly, penny for penny, it was one of the best meals I have had in Thailand and well worth a visit.

 

I have also been to the Acropolis a couple of times for a snack. This is the Greek shack just off Soi Boukow near the Sawasdee Purple Hotel. I would recommend the Chicken Souvlaki at 60 baht, much nicer than those kebab stands IMHO

I have heard the Pig and Whistle is now Thai owned, the food has gone down hill as the Thais (as usual) cut costs and corners. They dont make their own sausages and bacon anymore and the ones they use now are shit. The bacon and sausages you could buy per kilo has shot up in price and is amongst the most expensive i have ever seen. The overall prices have risen on all food.

 

I had a breakfast at the Queen Vic on Soi 6 and it was really good, i can recommend it

 

Went to the P & W last night for a sirloin. like eating conveyor belt, chips etc cold, gave them a second chance this morning to have breakfast,

 

sliced the sausage open and it was red as a monkey's arsehole, selomonela garunteed.

 

Wont be going back there

It is utter shite, two good places for breakfast are Bob Palmers - Soth Pattaya Land and Nickies - Soi Boukhaow

Good spot to sit at the rail and neck a cheap, cold one and watch the world go by. Market days are good for people watching. Never tried the food.

The beer was cheapish but my biggest surprise was the Sangsom shots I ordered.... 40 baht for nearly half a bloody glass!! Would be lucky for it to barely cover the bottom of the same size glass for 120 baht in WS and LK Metro !!! I had been chatting in Thai and Issan Kmer to the girls and owner/manageress there so perhaps it was larger than others might receive..........

I had a breakfast at the P W in Jomtien last week. The shit has to be precooked as there is no way you could cook bacon & sausage that quick. Arrived at the table some 5 minutes after ordering it. Was crap would never go back there.
