When do you come back ?

You need to have your 1-year temporary licence expired to renew it.

You need to show an non-imigrant visa to get a 5 years licence.

Procedure is rather simple and can be found on many websites about Pattaya and/or Expats.

You can re new up to 3 months before your old one expires, but you do need the documents to do this

Where Bigmick ? Certainly not in Pattaya !

Many reports on ThaiVisa and other expat's forums of people who tried and failed.

See the Warning on pattayacityexpatsclub.com checklist :

You can apply for the 5 year license up to 2 months before your 1 year license expires. This time frame is from the Land Transport Office Website - However, we have received many reports that some local Land Transport Offices will not issue the five year license until a week or so before the temporary one year license expires - so to save a repeat trip, we suggest you go as close to the expiration date as you can.

Have you ever been there and tried this your self?

I thought not.

I have and it works if you are polite and tell them you need to get this done as you wont be in country, hence the reason why you need to do this early, i did mine - no problems.

Sometimes you have to stop listening to "Dads Army" and go look yourself

Yes I did, but long time ago, and with a 1 year licence expired since about 1 month. I have a 5 years licence now.

Ok it may have work for you, but as I said many people have been refused. So why take this risk when you just can wait 2 months and will have it without problem ?

If you go to the better expat club at their is an expat who volunteers each week to take people like you to the license center and they all have no issues.

You should not believe everything you read on Thai Visa
