I would not recommend the Residence Garden for kingsize beds. I am also a big guy, and I thought the beds were too short. Blankets always came adrift during gymnastics.

I usually wait until 4am or there abouts to turn in.  I usually find a parked baht bus and curl up on one of the benches-not the most comfy, but certainly priced right.  Regards, James

I found the Delux rooms at the Areca Lodge to be very comfortable but the bed was Queen size...

I'll be staying at the Penthouse in a few days time and they have King size lifted beds...will let you guys know when I return ;D

The only place I've seen 'King size plus' is in the Party room at Edens....you could easily have 15 girls on the bed and still have elbow room! ;D ;D

Queen size is bigger than King size !!!!!!!

Isn't the Areca Lodge the one where they had the safe deposit boxes robbed some time ago ? Also on the other side of 2nd road so potential for roadkill there !!

Not where I come from. The bed sizes in ascending order are single, double, queen and king.

I haven't heard about the safe deposit boxes being robbed at the Areca. What I liked about the safe deposit boxes was that they are in a separate room next to the reception desk and they only allow one person in at a time escorted by the receptionist.

You're dead right about crossing Second Rd though. You have to take your life in your hands each time! ::)

I stayed at the Areca just over a year ago

It was nice except some farang guy threw himself ? was pushed ? over the balcony in the room above mine not a pretty sight - see my hotel review

Also thats right about a safety deposit box being robbed

Read it on here some time after

Some guy had a few thousand dollars in cash can't remember amount robbed from the box

Stupid to keep so much in a safety deposit box

Cheers

I remember reading your review and almost considered not staying at the Areca Lodge but then nearly every hotel I contacted was booked (Dec 20th - 29th 2002). Areca Lodge was one of the few who could accomodate so I had little choice. Turns out it was a great choice! :D

As for the robbery, his box was the only one robbed? I agree, stupid to have so much cash sitting in the box. [smiley=shame.gif] I guess that's why they only allow one escorted guest in at a time ::)
