Britain Trails Only Chad in Airline Access Costs, WEF Study Says

The charges imposed certainly are ridiculous, but at the moment most of the airlines are "taking the hit" for the UK purchases, leaving the total price to purchasers in the UK reasonably well off. A point that those purchasing from Thailand are probably noticing. The extras on my current return ticket came to over 500 Pounds (23,000 Baht) on a 1,800 Pound (81,000 Baht) return ticket. :angry2 Of course that includes Bankok charges, and Abu Dhabi (if they do charge their national airline), but the bulk are UK taxes. From the way the Airlines are getting in early with their complaints, makes me think that the vile bastard of a chancellor is preparing to raise the taxes even more in the forthcoming budget. :hijack

You got that right.... although the taxes shouldn't depend on where you buy the ticket from, they hit everyone flying out of the UK.

Tickets still look a lot cheaper ex-UK with the baht only 45/£.

Think you could be in for a big surprise in the forthcoming budget especially if you fly from a Regional Airport.

My you tease....

I think we know of another rise in APD of 2.5% will be imposed from April 1, 2013.

And that revenue from these taxes is going to be less than originally predicted. Old source

You were very specific about Regional Airports, which have been under-utilized so perhaps some investment there?
