Sabai Lodge vs Residence Gardens

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine is going to Pattaya towards the end of November. He has booked a room at Residence Gardens and a room at Sabai Lodge. He has never been to either hotel before and will be staying two weeks.

He is not sure which one to stay at first? He doesn't know whether to stay one week at one hotel and another week at the other hotel?

Can anyone provide any suggestions of one hotel over the other if both room rates are the same?

Are the quality of the rooms the same? Is the staff as courteous in one hotel as the other? Are the pools equal? Is one in a better location than the other?

Any up to date help will be appreciated.

Take the first week on Sabai Lodge, and the second on Residence Garden.

It is nice to go from normal Hotelroom to the big space on RG.

Best Regards

I've stayed at the Sabai Lodge and it's a good hotel. Great location on soi 2. Easy access to baht bus on Beach Rd. Comming back is no hassle as you catch a bus on 2nd rd get off at soi 2 and walk down. Big C shopping center is on the other side of 2nd rd.

I wonder if it's really true that both hotels have the same rate?  I thought the Residence Garden was about 1200 or 1300 Baht.  When I stayed at the Sabai Lodge last November, I just walked in and got a deluxe room for 850 baht, I think it was.  Anyway, I'd stay at the Sabai Lodge again, if I could get a good price.  It's fairly quiet, clean, and in a good location, right down the street from the massage places.

Hi   ;D

I have styed at both places, several times...

Recidence Graden is 1350 with the FLB deal, Sabai Lodge is between 800 and 1650, depends on the room.

Some moments :

1 Sabai Lodge has bigger pools, but both are good.

2 The food is about the same,

3 Both has very nice staff

4 Recidence has better rooms and a kitchen/ bigger fridge

5 Some rooms at Sabai reely needs a makeover, specially the bathroom

6 Recidence has in room safe, only some of the Sabai rooms has the same.

7 Sabai has a very good placement - close to big C/ and the action in soi 2, easy to travel to/from walkingstreeet

8 Recidence has a good placement for going to the beach (jomtien) and u can walk to walkingstreet....sometimes..

I would like move Recidence Garden to the place where Sabai Lodge is today  ??? ??? ???

11 weeks until Im back at Recidence....

  • 2 weeks later...

I like the location of the Sabai Lodge.  Baht bus makes everything convenient.  To catch the baht bus you don't evenhave to go to Beach Road since many turn down Soi 2 to head back back to Beach Road and then proceed further south.  Returning though you will have to get off at 2nd Road and Soi 2 since driver will think you're heading further north and if you tell him to turn you've then hired him as taxi.

For food, the Welkom Inn accross the street from Sabai Lodge is great!  Try the baked rice in a pineapple for 70 baht  or staek tartare for 220. Also the garden at the Welkom Inn is a great place for a drink and you can also shortime the girls hanging out there.  For breakfast there is a 100 baht all you can eat on the corner of Beach Road and Soi 2.

Don't know much about the RG or that area.

partyanimal,

Yes, the location does sound terrific!  I have read that the Sabai Lodge is getting a little run down these days, with AC units that leak.  Do you know if they are upgrading any of their facilities?

SoCal,

I have nevver stayed at the Sabai Lodge but have looked at their rooms.

The nicest rooms are their most expensive that have there own little ourdoor patio (a plus).

What I didn't like is that all their rooms have carpeting and at this price range tiled floored rooms seem to smell much better than carpeted rooms.

The outdoor pool area is quite nice but the rooms are not as nice but acceptable.  Don't know if any rooms have recently been renovated.

What I can say is I've often been on the baht bus with guys from Sabai Lodge and they all seemed to like it.

Another alternative is to stay at the Sabai Inn right across the strret.  Their rooms are nicer than the Lodge but more expensive.  If you stay in the room you can use the pool at the Lodge.

Hi SoCal and Partyanimal  ;D

The rooms around the small pool ( Rom 701-709 ) are fairly new. They still have carpets but are newer, with more modern bathrooms.

Its just this 9-10 rooms arond this pool, so its quiter and a nice atmosphere there.

The rate is about 1600 bath for these rooms.
