Yes. Almost all the LOS hotels will have vacancies from May through November. I don't make hotel reservations - but I avoid LOS during December and January. Don't care for the crowds, extra wait for service, and higher prices.

 

Bangkok has a few exceptions. The Nana and and Majestic Suites are popular and you may not find a vacancy there every time. I prefer the Dynasty Inn, a hundred paces from NEP, and am 90% sure of getting a room. The Majestic has few rooms and usually all are reserved. But if you stop by the Majestic they will likely have an opening in a day or two. Same with the Nana. The exception in Pattaya is the Thai Song Khran vacation weekend of late April that fills the mid-priced hotels. But there should be no problem in Pattaya from May through November in finding a vacant room at the first hotel you choose. IMHO low season is best.

I am very much looking forward to being there without so many people...I thought much of pattaya was a little empty this high season, is it completely dead in the low season?

My last visit was in September/October. Quieter than high season, obviously, but dead it was most definitely not. I think it's a matter of taste whether high or low season is better, as there's pros and cons on both sides.

 

I don't have any great preference either way, but if I had to choose I think I'd go for low season, as I reckon the TG to poonhound ratio is more favourable.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think the lack of bustle on the streets takes a bit away from the atmosphere. Somehow the place doesn't seem quite so alive in low season, even though there's still plenty of people and noise about. I think this is particularly noticeable on Walking Street, where pedestrian numbers seem to drop more noticeably than elsewhere for some reason.

 

Bars and clubs don't seem to be affected much though, and I guess that's what's really important. Perhaps low season attracts more people who want to sit down and drink rather than walk about.

Bluesmalone, the only down side about May for me is the humidity. This Nov.-Dec. I noticed the difference in the weather from May-June....really pretty pleasant and low (relatively) humidity vs last May-June. It's been said that a lot of girls leave during low season to visit family, or whatever, which is probably true, but there's more than enough girls still in Pattaya to my eyes. Lots less tourists than Nov.-Dec. as well....a good thing, IMO.

Agree. November is the best time weather-wise in Thialand - least humid.  And IMHO the most enjoyable Thai holiday, Loy Krathong, takes place then.

Can't say for sure, but I accept that many Pattaya TGs head upcountry during the slow season to help their folks plant the rice crop - usually two crops per year.  Suspect suay TGs, pulling in mak Baht in Pattaya, just send money and their love to the folks.  ;D
