Pattaya snaps - architecture

what's the first one of?

Odd how, when we're in Pattaya we seldom look up. I noticed that with my daughter, adults seem to stop looking up and around them when they reach a certain age.

One of my unusual hobbies when I'm out there is to look for stuff in the bars which dates back to the 80's, or stuff that is just old. There was one on Beach Road near the bottom of Soi 8 if I recall that had a picture of a US warship signed by the Captain and officers dating from 1982.

The first one is that new hotel built on the corners of 2nd road, soi 2 and soi 3. Destroyed that wonderful little group of bars in Soi 2 to do it.

I know what you mean about old stuff in bars. 20 years ago there was a bar called (from memory) the anzac bar and hotel (it was located next to what became CATS bar in the boystown area, just around the corner from the original classroom. It was owned by an aussie and he had various vietnam war paraphenilia and pictures, a bit of the bar looked like something out of a NSW bar from the 60s. The owner must have been 'a bit of a lad' as on about my 3rd visit to Patts, I found out he had just died... seems some old acquaintance had turned up, been refused a loan and knifed him.
