Rumor About Retirement Visa Income Proof

Recommended Posts

So, putting the B800k in a Thai bank account aside, how much pension Bs £s $s do you need to show each month to satisfy requirements?

It is about the same, 800,000/12 baht. Say 65,000 pcm. Although you can also use a combination of money on deposit and income too. The partial income method also abrogates the requirement to 'season' the deposit I believe.

I think that the bottom line is if you want a hassle free retirement extension, just put the 800,000 in a Thai bank. After you have your extension, you can live off that money until three months befor

Yes MM, I know. Problem is that on a forum you must use the correct terminology or define precisely the context: - if about someone who live in Thailand: it's an "Extension of Stay based on being ov

I can see that there is some method behind the madness of board names. Your name must be a reflection of the French "idee fixe", a common meaning of which is: An idée fixe is a preoccupation of mind h

Hi guys.Be careful if you intend to get a Retirement Extension in Jomtien soon.It was a rumour for 2-3 days but ThaiVisa seems to confirm it:Pattaya immigration no longer does conversion to non-O visaThat means that if you just have a Tourist-Visa or used Visa Exemption, you can't get a Retirement Extension in Jomtien anymore. You will need to go Bangkok to convert your visa to a non-O first. With more controls?Could be a kind of sanction towards Jomtien in relation to the manyvisa agencies who offer "very easy retirement 'visa'"...

Took a walk to the Jomtien immigration office. As anticipated, one has go to Bangkok to do the initial retirement extension. Thought is was worth asking.

To be clear, it is the conversion of a tourist visa/Visa Exempt to a Non-Imm O (in preparation for a retirement extension), which can now only be done in Bangkok. One can arrive in Jomtiem with a Non-Imm O, obtained in your home country or say Laos, and apply for an initial (first time) retirement extension there.

More detail in this Thai Visa thread.

Turned in the extension application at Jomtien immigration today. They accepted my income affidavit without question. Will see what happens tomorrow when I go back to get my passport.

Rules for immigration offices are NOT the same. For example, I had a certificate of deposit for 800,000 baht at the Farmers Agricultural Bank. That was acceptable as long as I could draw out the money at any time. The 90 day check in had also been very easy. They scanned the bar code on the paper they attach to your passport and that's it. Now they have a new boss. She is a genuine cunt. In November I went for my extension. She says that certificate is not acceptable and it must be in a savings account. I told her that it was always OK in the past. I said I would go to the bank tomorrow and put the money in my savings account. NO, the money must be in the savings account for three months. That's bullshit, that cunt simply hates farangs. I asked her what I should do. She told me that I had to leave the country and after three months, I could extend my visa. I ended up going to Bangkok and getting an income letter. When I got back to the immigration office in Chiang Khan, I had to pay a thousand baht for a two day overstay. She also wanted a copy of every page in my passport and refused to re date my 90 day check in. I had to go back in December for the 90 day check in. That is a 200 kilometer round trip for me. I needed the 90 day form and three copies of pages from my passport. The bitch has just made it more difficult when things had gotten much more efficient before she came. I have no problem following the rules but when the rules change, it pisses me off.

Now have the retirement extension. The income letter was not an issue. When I submitted the application yesterday, they did ask for a copy of my lease which I did have. The fact that it only runs for another 2+ weeks was not a problem. Having been to the Bangkok immigration office for the initial conversion and seeing how efficiently organized it was, I have to say the Jomtien operation does not impress.
