I have a dodgy back, which can flare up every so often when lifting at unorthodox angles...one such occasion was four thirty this morning....result is I'm mostly immobile but can shuffle around when necessary. Cure is application of a hot water bottle to inflamed area, and then some severe stretching exercises for a day or two and hopefully everything gets reset.

Of course,I didn't pack a hot water bottle in my luggage.

Anyone know where I can get one in Sin City? I don't want to struggle all the way to Fascino only to find there was a closer store or that they don't stock them. I'm staying near the Avenue btw.

Thanks in advance!

I have this heat pack I picked up in Hong Kong. (Stanley Market)

It is like a thick plastic bag with a coloured liquid in it, and there is a disc in it you click and then the liquid starts to solidify and it gives out a lot of heat over a few hours.

To reset it you have to put it into a saucepan of boiling water for a while then let it cool slowly.

Worked wonders on my knee recently and sounds good for your problem.

At the time of injury you need to apply cold on the site to reduce inflammation which multiplies the pain. To make an ice pack, use part water and part alcohol. The alcohol keeps the water from freezing solid and lets the bag mold to your body shape. Alternates to alcohol (if you are afraid that you might abuse the alcohol) is to use peas or rice.

Later, use heat to relax the muscle.

Jobs a good 'un.

Trundled through the midday madness of Second Road traffic to ask at Boots in the Avenue. No go there but the small pharmacy inside Villa had a curiously bright green one on the lowest shelf....making it impossible to reach. After a bit of mime and theatrics the serving wench scooped it up and my problem looks like being sorted. I don't know what they are known as in Thailand but it's not "hot water bottle" that's for sure. 100 baht paid and boiling the kettle as I type.

Thanks to the guidance above....I feared a long journey to Fascino was needed, but clearly not so! I was dreading the baht bus journey to the Dolphin Roundabout....the road surface is nothing short of disgusting now and Pattayas aging fleet of busses all have fucked suspensions making that journey unpleasant....and dangerous if you have trapped nerves and misaligned muscles.

Happy days!
