Did I miss something? I didn't see anything on the airline site that said "Phuket to Pattaya?"

Is there air service between Pattaya & Phuket? If so, what airline and how much? TurboProp?

I'd appreciate the info too.

Thanks,

Rockin' Jerry

rockinjerry,

Punch in your trip and the details you want will come up.

Pattaya-Samui is a daily flight, as is Pattaya-Phuket (via Samui).  Pattaya-Phuket direct flights (1.5 hours) commence on 28 March and fly on Wed/Fri/Sun.

Cost of the direct return flight (Pattaya-Phuket) is THB6,880 incl taxes if booked on the website.  You can normally get a better deal if booking in Thailand - the Bangkok Airways office in Pattaya is on 2nd Road opposite the Hard Rock/Montien hotels.

The aircraft used on the route are ATR72 turboprops.

Off at a tangent slightly; the airline will take delivery of its first airbus later this year - somehow they will make BA look a tad boring!

I think I may have taken stupid pills this morning cause I can't get the hang of discovery pass.  You buy coupons which gets you flights?  Just don't understand?

???

Since I prob will fly from Bangkok-Chang Mai-Phuket-Samui-Utapao this is prob a good deal for me.

Don't worry...

At the airport in Bkk, you go to the Bangkok Airways ticket office on the lowest floor of the Domestic Terminal.

Unlike the travel agents, Bkk Air will not make a CC surcharge.

Ask for the Discovery Airpass and then go through your itinerary with them.

There is no charge for date/time changes other than the first sector(ie Bkk - Chiang Mai).

Yes it would be a good deal as each sector would cost less than 2000 baht.

I think Chiang Mai - Phuket may be 2 sectors. Check this.

but try getting a flight booked with asia air, they told my tgf that you need to give about 2 months notice as it is so popular, i have not been able to get a flight with them for April on any day.

I did the Koh Samui flight from Pattaya {UTP} in Feb 2004 , it was on an AR72 {prop}. Very nice aircraft, quite and very clean. Srevice was fantastic....! The flight continues on to Phuket from Koh Samui

I paid about 5400 Baht for the RT via the website of Bangkok Airways..

The airport in Pattaya {UTP}, is not an easy one to get to...Going to be a 500 Baht ride...It will take 20 to 30 mins to get there and when returning expect to pay 700 Baht for a taxi back to Pattaya. No airport user fee was charged, but I know Koh Samui charges 400 baht/person

No need to pay for a taxi from the airport(UTapao) to Pattaya. There is a Bangkok Airways bus service. It takes you to your hotel for 150 baht.

The booth is situated just before you exit from the airport.

A minibus from Pattaya to U Tapao airport should cost no more than 300 baht. Try a local travel agent.

Not often I disagree with you Valentino on matters like this but I did the minibus from U-Tapao to Pattaya the first time I landed there and would never do so again.

Firstly, by the time all passengers had paid and had their luggage loaded etc etc, I would have been 20 mins closer to Pattaya if I had just hopped into a waiting cab. Secondly, and admittedly it's luck of the draw, my hotel was the last one they stopped at on arrival so I spent about 30-40 mins touring various hotels on arrival in Pattaya before being dropped at mine.

For those on tight budgets (e.g. those that prefer to take the bus from BKK to PTY as opposed to a taxi) then it is a good idea.

If you are not though, then the extra few hundred baht is money well spent IMHO for the time saved.

Cheers

Not a problem...

I'm not usually in a hurry, so I have never noticed a long wait on the bus.

Secondly, I almost always meet someone on the bus.  :) Three Swedish girls and a busty Thai girl the last time.

I'd spotted the Thai girl on the 'plane. Curvy, busty and pretty. My type.

On the bus, I got caught up in conversation with the Swedish girls...I could see the chance of finding out the Thai girl's story slipping through my fingers.

Thankfully, the Scandinavians decided to room in Jomtien, after arranging to meet later. This left the door open for me to move in...

Shyness took over, so a smile as I got off the bus was all I got.  A sweet and sexy smile was returned.

I thought about her all day. Later that night I saw her on Walking Street. I strode up and engaged her in conversation. I asked her what she did for a living.... I could have kicked myself.

She said she worked in IT. Yeah.... right...

She gave me the name of the company. I checked and there she was....

We are still friends. (-:

The bus is ok.
