Would Fergie consider one last cameo for the rest of the season?

That is one thing that definitely won't happen. The job required to turn things round will take more then the rest of this season and Fergie would only tarnish his record at United should he return for the rest of the season. It would never happen. Van Gaal has bought himself some time with a draw against Chelsea but that is all, he will not last beyond January because he has lost the dressing room.

Hi,   I think Stoke will be fine even though they were outclassed at Arsenal. Having a good goalkeeper should help them in tigher games. I'd like Bournemouth to stay up but I feel they are doomed.

I haven't been around for a while. I'd just like to say that since then my team have become a force again.   UNITED   TWENTY TIMES TWENTY TIMES MAN UNITED TWENTY TIMES TWENTY TIMES I SAY   TWEN

Lol. Does it take a Thai owner to win in English football?

Not having visited Thailand in the last few months, coinciding with Leicester's rise to prominence: I was wondering whether there was any groundswell of support by the Thai population lately, with them being under Thai ownership, or is it still all about United?

Hi,

A New Year and Arsenal are top. Can they stay there ? Must say I've been impressed by Spurs this season. Can they maintain their form as Leicester seem to be on the slide ?

Hi,

A grear round of games which may well decide issues at the top and bottom of the League. I really enjoyed Liverpool v Arsenal even though Liverpool got a late equaliser. Roll on Sunday when Man Utd face Liverpool at Anfield. LVG is becoming funny, loved his joke about people leaving early because of traffic. :bhappy Leicester City and Sunderland are the winners in the round with big victories against their close competitors.

I hope the Scousehampton v United game meets the optimistic expectations, but I fear a rather dreary low scorer may be the outcome. Both Klopp and LVG were not overly impressed with their respective sides letting in 3 goals apiece mid-week, and may well revert to "type" for this match. Stoke v Arsenal later on could be a better spectacle. Most of Arsenal's remaining away games (7 of them) are against the top 10 sides, so they will need to win against the likes of Stoke in these types of game, IMHO, if they are to win the league. Just for want of variety, I hope that Manchester City don't come through again.

The 2 year transfer ban on Real Madrid could cause a few problems in this "transfer window"; not least for United and De Gea. (Although there could already be an agreement in place for the end of season.) They may well have to do a "transfer and immediate loan back" to the end of the season, to appease the authorities. Alledgedly both Hazard, Aguero and Cane are on the immediate shopping list too, but that lot would probably be close to £400 million in transfer fees alone! :yikes: Ronaldo & Benzema alledgedly could be used to offset some of that.

United have only won five times in their last eighteen games and only scored seventeen goals in those games, two of which were own goals! When you're averaging less than a goal a game you know that there are some serious problems. Six of those games were 0-0 draws. Out of the goals scored, six of them have come in the first half. It's all well and good saying that they are only two points off of Champions League places but that's only because this has been the most unusual Premiership season ever and everybody is dropping points all the time. United are at crisis point and they will not make the Champions League if Van Gaal stays to the end of the season. I wouldn't give him any more money to spend because he can't be trusted and no mater who he buys he will not get the best out of them, only succeeding in stifling them with his boring, negative football. I wonder how bad things have to get before they get rid of him? When they fail to qualify for the Champions League they will definitely get rid of him but what a price to pay? If they lose at Liverpool on Sunday the writing is on the wall. I was fortunate enough to be at the Liverpool game at Old Trafford earlier this season which was one of their best performances.

Van Gaal buys himself some more time because of his, let's admit it, very good record against the big clubs. Please prove me wrong Louis, build on this and let's go on an unbeaten run in true United style for the remainder of the season. Show us why we wanted you to be the manager in the first place.

Hi,

The scousers were robbed. Liverpool was the best team but couldn't put the ball in the net. Looks like Jose is coming your way. Arsenal still top.

I think that if Moaninho was on his way to us, he would be there , or negotiating anyway, now. I think they do have a face in mind (but not Guardiola IMHO), but are reluctant to change before the end of season. We are, after all, in this very open season, still well placed for Champions League qualification, and could still win the league, no matter how unwarranted with style of play. Keeping hold of De Gea is tantamount though. :nod I still am thinking Raymond Blanc in the summer, or when PSG depart the Champions league, but would be happy enough pissing off Spurs, and poaching Pocahontas! :P I would also appreciate Mourinho, but I think Ferguson's continued influence and ego is preventing that happening.

Your summary of the match was pretty much on the mark, but it was "job done", and 3 points in the bag. Despite it being 0-0 I thought the Stoke/Arsenal game was a better "watch".

Saints, who are not the team of last season, at Old Trafford on Saturday "should" be a win, and the other top 5 clubs all have potential "banana skins" on the weekend.

Arsenal will have to avoid their "traditional" 2 to 3 week complete loss of confidence disaster, normally triggered by Champions league exit; Cech could well be influential in that scenario.

Robbed? You must have a different interpretation of what that means in football because the generally accepted version of robbed is when a controversial decision that goes against you costs you the game and I can't remember that happening? My heart bleeds for the scousers. If you don't take your chances then you get punished, simple as. Hardly a convincing win by United by they scored and Liverpool didn't, that's the end of it.

Hi,

Fair comment. Arsenal v Chelsea is the match of the weekend. If Arsenal can win that our hopes will increase.Leicester face a difficult game v Stoke while Man City are away at West Ham. If Man Utd beat Southampton their supporters will carry hopes of stilll winning the League. I think LVG has got a tough time off the media.

Oh my Golly Gosh ! (Insert elongated swearing diatribe!) Losing to Southampton at Old Trafford, after my last embarrassing  post! Come on Bobby, ditch the bugger, even if it means letting "Shagger" take over again in the interim until a suitable manager comes available! It couldn't do any more harm ! :hairout

That Arsenal v Chelski match is going to have to go some to beat the Norwich v Scousehampton "netball" match yesterday . (I was going to refer to "rugby scores" but 4 is impossible!) Good for neutrals, but I'm not sure that I would be over-joyous as a supporter, even on the winning side! Mignolet is going to end up off work with a "bad back", what with all that bending down to pick the ball out of the net, that he is doing lately! :P The "perennial joke" side Tottenham are starting to look a good bet now; and that Deli Alli goal was exquisite :clap2: We'll see if they "forfeit" the Europa Cup, in an attempt to really press home. I think Scousehampton and us at United are going to have to really go for that Europa Cup, to get Champions league next year. Hard to see either team ending up in the top 4, not least as Leicester continue to press. At least the Brummie derby went to it's rather tedious script.

Chelsea are up for the game against Arsenal and Fabregas and Costa play well. What must Jose be thinking ? I was happy with Arsenals performance as they played with 10 men for most of the game. Man Utd are beaten again which may mark the end of LVG at OT.

Van Gaal OUT

I can't take any more of this and it's breaking my heart to witness the lows that United have sunk to. If you read the statistics in this article it shows just how bad things have become. It's gone too far now and enough is enough. The longer he stays the more he is dragging this club down. Step down Louis rather than allowing them to cause you the indignity of sacking you, if you had anything about you then you would do this because everyone has had enough of you and you have lost the support of all of the fans now. For the respect of the club, just fuck off!

Hi,

At this stage we have to congratulate Leicester City for their great season. :clap1

I'm surprised you didn't quote post #115 Wac, you obviously don't have my "vicious" sense of humour or irony

There is nothing I would like more , other than the obvious improbability, than to see Leicester press on and win the league. I wouldn't however, be "rushing to the bookies" to support that outcome. I do think they will end up in the top 4 though. :clap2 Their transfer targets for this window would be really beneficial if they come off, giving them the needed back-up.

I see Chelski are being linked with ol' Sicknote himself. (Van Persie), desperation stakes there!

Hi,

What a goal from Vardy the other night. Leicester have to play City and Arsenal in their next 2 games and if they come through these games they could win the League. Still outsiders of 3, bookies still expect City to win. I can't see Man Utd winning at Chelsea on Sunday and they are 40/1 to win the title.

Unless the other 2 (I've discounted Arsenal I'm afraid) can shake themselves clear of City before the last few weeks, I too think the inevitable will happen. Although I cannot see City winning the Champions league "in a month of Sundays", the irony of disposing of Pellagrini, should they end up winning all 4 competitions, would be there for all to mock!

Hi,

Well a great win for Leicester at City. If they are not beaten at Arsenal they could hang on. The unknown is that the players have no history of competing at the top while City and Arsenal have. Spurs have a similar profile in that regard but are still in contention. How will Leicester and Spurs react to being in contention ? Spurs usually bottle it but have a different type of younger team and Leicester have shown no signs of nerves up to this point.

Hi,

Big weekend in the Premier League. Arsenal beat Leicester 5-2 at the King Power. Can they do the double on them ? Will they be dancing in The Auld Triangle ? City play Spurs, and are hot favs with the bookies. I'm not so sure and may have a small bet on the AH on Spurs. City have a lot of injuries and the manager situation won't be a help.

How bad do things have to get before they get rid of this fucking clown? There's a very real danger United could finish out of the top six this season.
