Standby Upgrade on Thai

Now back to the topic at hand if you will permit it, I just upgraded on the Thai flight this morning from cattle class to business from the Swamp to my connection at Narita. It was another 525 $US, and the entire ticket round trip from Chicago to Bkk was $945 but I thought it a worthwhile treat for myself as I journey back to the brainwashed PC Obamaland.

Yeah, I left some pork for any Mo that might be looking for souvenirs.

Have I got this correct, you paid $US525 to upgrade from BKK to Narita, a six hour flight.

That just doesn't sound like a good deal

It wasn't the best but I was in a mood. Sometimes price isn't the driver I've learned, LDOP notwithstanding.

Good thing Gabor isn't on the thread.

Just intrigued what a Biz Class ticket would have been over and above the $945 original ticket..... probably a lot this time of year.

Seems more economical to just pay Biz initially for the complete trip..... I figure on getting one for around £2000 to the UK where an economy may be £500. That is for 4x6 hour flights for £1500 more or $2200 more, pretty similar. I would hate to change to economy mid-trip! The lounge at transit is worth a bit to me.....

Yep - definitely about 12.

Jacko, when I've travel cattle class I still use the lounges, but the 'paid for' ones. At Heathrow it's about 35 quid, can't remember how much at BKK. Facilities At Heathrow are pretty good, at BKK not as good, but not as much price wise. In business class you still get the benefit of the fast stream entry and exit though!

It often is not on Disunited. The same $950 Bkk/Chi return flight on America's great airline was $6,500 for Business class even though they use partners Thai and ANA for the Narita/Bkk shuttle.

So dealing with Thai or ANA directly on a Disunited code share is one way to bypass Disunited's predatory pricing.

Enough about your IQ, are you really a Moderator or did MM lose a bet and Gabor just unavailable?

Yes, I'm really a moderator and yes, you still sound like a 12 year old.

Well I have avoided LHR for many many years due to past horrors, although I am considering giving BA /LHR a go as now my transit to domestic would be all T5 and should be easy. (Doing the old T4->T1 via the connections centre is just too horrible). The lounges I have mostly used at Manchester, Emirates and Etihad are really good. At BKK they put you in a Thai lounge. It isn't only about the lounges, boarding of the A380 at Manchester was a world of difference. But the killer for me....... the ability to get up and take a leak!!!!
