EVA Evergreen Deluxe. Question about seat comfort.

Recommended Posts

I'm making plans for a trip in Jan. and am considering spending the extra $200 or so for the "upgrade" from coach to Deluxe. Is it worth it? I'm 6ft. 3in. tall and need all the extra room I can get. Is there more legroom? Width? If so, is it enough to stretch out? To be concise I'm only worried about comfort. Any other ammenities i.e. food, TV, etc... would be nice to hear about but seat comparison, Deluxe vs. economy is my main goal. Thanks up front.

I DID A SEARch and didn't find the following post. Found it after reading the forum. Hope the link works:

It is definitely worth it.  I am only 5'6" and I feel cramped in economy.  I'll be flying Evergreen Deluxe in February when I go.  Also sign up for Evergreen Deluxe frequent flyer, you get 125% miles when you fly evergreen deluxe and you get to use the VIP lounge.  If you sign up  for evergreen deluxe, you will get at least 1 free upgrade on the long haul flights on your next trip.

cheers

Definitely worth it. The seats are wider and have more legroom but the footrest is useless except for midgets. The armrests are fixed so if you do not have anyone sitting next to you you can't spread out over 2 seats like you can in economy.

There is a lot more free space for a walk and stretch in Evergreen. You don't get an invitation to the lounge until you have got a silver card which you get after 6 international flights or 25,000 miles. Full business class with Eva is not worth the extra, though you do get a lounge invitation. The lounge at BKK is awful, no toilets poor snacks only the free drinks make it worth visiting.

I believe lounges abroad which are usually shared with other airlines are better, certainly the one at Heathrow is superb.

Since I am a cheap charlie, i always ask for exit row seats....and request them ahead of time since they dont usually assign them until 24 hours prior to flight time (they imput my request but cant assign seat).  Most of my requests have been honored...and in some cases they have put me in business class or 1st class just because I requested more leg room.  Plus you get to sit across from the flight attendants during take-off and landing.

upena,

Sounds as though you know what you are doing! Have any of the flight attendants ever leaned over and given you a BBBJ on take off?

Welcome to Eva Air Sir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [smiley=sperm.gif]

I had a emergency exit seat in the Evergreen Deluxe class before. Dit not like it! The door used my legroom, so I had to sit with my leg on the door the whole flight, not very relaxing. >:(

This was on the AMS-BKK leg with a Boeing 747-Combi.On my last trip the checkin counter at BKK told me they received too many complaints on the exit seats.

Agree with biga do not ask for the window emergency exit seat. The aisle exit seat is not as bad. The first time I flew Evergreen the booking clerk said I wouldn't be comfortable in the exit seat. On the B747 combi aicraft used from Europe, best seats are 24D & G, 26D & G, 27D & G and if no babies aboard any in row 20 which are right at the front. Having said that any seat in Evergreen is better than economy regardless of airline.

Go for deluxe without a doubt. I am also 6'3" and wide on top of it and it is the only way to go. Great room. I do agree with the other posts to go for the aisle not the window exit row seat or you will be miserable due to the hump from the raft in the door. Also when you make your reservation let them know you always want exit row and they will put in your file permanently. They now ask me if i want exit row when i check in rather then the other way around. Just get to the airport early and I bet you will get your seat with out a problem.

Ever since the first time I flew EVA Deluxe Class I have never flown any other airline.  I had over 200,000 miles on my Northwest FF account.  I gave my brother a free ticket on NW to BKK and I flew on EVA.  It is worth the extra $200 to fly EVA's Deluxe class

Tab, EVA have just added a wednesday flight, and have specials £380 rtrn and £10 alteration fee LHR/BKK

But be quick, I wanted to travel 12 Nov and took an hour to make my mind up, when I foned back all seats had gone, so I paid £510 same flite Evergreen, 3 month ticket, £10 change fee, its always better to do something too early than too late !  :(

It is most definitely worth it - outside of flying F or C!  If I couldn't go C, I'd definitely go L (Evergreen Deluxe) or not at all (stinking arthritis).

Not sure what the pitch is, but off-hand I say it's 37-38".  The seats are about 20" wide.  I have a big ass and it's plenty!  There is a leg and foot rest with the seat, along with your own arm rest (so you don't have to fight for it.  You don't exactly lay down, but it's the next best thing.  Your tray table is located in the arm rest and the personal TV (PTV) is on the seat in front of you.  The PTV is adjustable so no need to worry about glare if the person sitting there reclines.  The meal served is economy, but not bad at all.  There is also an amenity kit in the seat back.  It has these slipper-type things so you can walk around in-flight with your shoes off, toothpaste and toothbrush, and the all important night blind-fold.

Hi guy's

This may sound like a dumb question , but how do you sign up for the EVA FF card , i have used EVA the last three trips and have never thought about getting this , it may come in handy for the use of the lounge alone .
