Hi guys.

Booked a EVA/AIR flight yesterday, evergreen deluxe with ours/travel,

My online itinerary reads reservation confirmed----V- Economy,

Is this a mistake, or a code that OURS/TRAVEL uses?

I tried to phone today (sat) but no reply.

Jem,

V Class is Evergreen Deluxe.  A quick check is whether your airport tax is nearer £60 than £40.  Evergreen Deluxe cops for Business Class rates of airport tax.

In America it is L. I have flown Eva air 5 times.  They are changing the way they do frequent flyer miles, no more award checks, they are keeping track trough miles.

Beach boy,

I have my tickets for Eva in front of me, from LA to Taipei and Taipei to bankgkok it says class B and then on the way home it says class U.  That does not make much sense.  I have flown Eva alot and have upgrade checks (which they are going to change soon).  I better call Eva in the morning. Cheers

I just used 3 of my last 4 award cheques on the 1st April to upgrade to Evergreen they were readily accepted. The remaining cheque has been returned to the club office and they have credited me with 5100 miles there is a 100 mile bonus for doing this.

Anyone flying Manchester - London - BKK on Eva please note - on the return leg there is an approx 11 hour overnight gap at London.  This is why I don't fly Eva anymore.  Even Evergreen Deluxe passengers don't get a hotel room.

Killed it for me.  I'm doing my frequent flyer miles with Emirates from now on.

Paul C I flew back on 1st April with a friend from Belfast he got a free hotel room although he didn't know which hotel until he got to the arrivals hall, it was the Marriott. He booked it with Trailfinders.

Mind you everyone on the flight who had a connection got a hotel room 'cos the flight was 4 hours late but that's another story.

How come no connection ? Is the  EVA from Bangkok getting into LHR late due to "war detours", or have the schedules changed? All was fine on 1st March !

As far as I know Steve and Fat this is the new permanent schedule and no hotel room is supplied.  maybe Cheshire TomCat can advise us

The reason you need an overnight stay in London is that the Eva flight arrives in London at 7-7.30 pm and the last shuttle flight to most Uk airports leaves at 7.30 - 8 pm which means you cannot make the connection .

Re the hotel room - it depends who you book it through . I travelled with Eva in Jan 03 & I nearly booked it with last minute.com , but I had to organise & pay for the hotel myself according to them . By chance I was talking to a friend who had went to LOS for his honeymoon . He had flown with Eva , booking it through Trailfinders & the hotel is included , paid for by Eva . I booked with them & there was a girl from Eva waiting with my hotel voucher as I got off the plane at LHR .

PaulC,

I am flying EVA on 1/17 May.  The flight schedule has changed from an original 19:05 arrival to 19:35 which prevents you connecting to the last flights to MAN (the departure from BKK is unchanged at 12:45).  The change is to allow an alternative flight path away from the war zone.  If you booked before the schedule change the airline is liable for the overnight accommodation.  If you booked after the schedule change it is up to the airline whether or not they provide accommodation.  I would think that the differences between the agents (lastminute v trailfinders) is more a question of competence on the part of the agent rather than EVA's own rules.  I booked prior to the change and got it in writing from Travelbag that EVA provides accommodation and confirmed that with the airline by phone.  What I don't know at the moment is whether your bags still get tagged through to Manchester from BKK or whether you have to collect them at LHR and check them in again the following morning with bmi/ba which would be a bigger pain in the ass than the overnight stop itself.

Tom

p.s. I've not seen your babe at the Crowne Plaza for a while.  Apparently she is back home for a while buying up the country's gold reserves!

I was on the verge of booking Eva via Trailfinders Manchester until I found out about the overnighter.  Their policy is definitely no hotel room supplied.  Incidentally I still wouldn't do it with the room - too much hassle.

Re the Crowne Plaza chick - any chance of setting me up as I believe you have a little influence there?  I could make it worth your while!  (Seriously.)  Think of the money I could save by getting my Thai Sanuk in the UK.  Please speak to your contact at the earliest opportunity!  The rewards (for you) will be handsome!

PaulC,

I will have a word on Tue or Wed to see what the score is.

If the LHR connection is proving to be a pain with EVA you can go from MAN via AMS for the same price but without the overnight hassles.  I was pretty much commited to my travel plans because of the folks from Scotland who are going out with me otherwise I would have probably elected to change to China Airlines or Malaysian.  I do prefer the midday departure from BKK as opposed to the midnight masses and hanging around all day.  I just checked with Travelbag and the bags can go all the way through MAN which eliminates some of the hassles of the stopover.

Tom

Tom - re EVA - its the inbound that is a problem - can you do that via AMS?  Still not sure I would want to do that what with the luggage problems and the potential 10 hour waits for onward travel advice etc (which I experienced when China Air was delayed a few months ago).  Think I'll stick to the airline of the year from now on - Emirates!  I'll save the £250 and sit in their fairly high seat pitch economy for 10 hours.  I see 3 other advantages of Emirates -

1    Less chance of terrorist attack by Muslimists as it is a Muslim country's airline

2    More availability to change return date as they have more flights

3    The 3 hour stop at Dubai can be a nice break, good airport  and more flexibility if the first leg is delayed

Re the other point, you have joked about this on several occasions but I was never sure if you were serious and never really asked you.  Did this chick actually express an interest?  Have we got chances here?  I can't even remember her.  What is she like?  Anyway do your best.

PaulC,

I agrre with you re Emirates for the MAN-DXB leg on the Airbus.  It is the DXB-BKK leg 10 abreast on the 777 that I can't handle.  OK if you are sat next to a babe, not so if you are sat next to Jimmy FiveBellies.

You should have got your ass down Wimbledon or Birmingham tomorrow (13th) for Songkran at the Thai temples.  Always lots of gals and lots of food.

5'5", black hair, dark eyes...... what do you think she looked like?  Lots of gold was what I noticed but she could have got that in Cheetam Hill or Prestwich for all I know! ;)

I don't think she was expressing an interest in the other two dining companions :-[ and since she knows I am impoverished a simple process of elimination came up with you.

Hey C Tom,

Have you seen the new prices EVA has just relased ?

Their economy tickets have gone up 15 % while their Evergreen tickets have dropped about 10%.

This makes the difference between U class and V class only a few bucks  ;D

Mats,

No, I've only really noticed Thai's prices dropping like a stone.  I can't really see many people choosing EVA economy when Thai is so much cheaper at the moment.  Do you have a link or details of agents offering reduced fares in Evergreen?

Regards,

Tom

p.s.  I don't want to appear rude, but is that a katoey in your avatar? :-[

p.p.s. They conrtroled the 70`s, they dominated the 80`s, they took a break during the 90`s, but now they`re BACK !  Are you talking about Abba?

Tom,

In Norway, TG has actully increased their prices and added rules that are alot more strict then earlier  ;)

As far as I know the prices TG are offering at the moment is NOT an effect on the SARS / Iraq thing... Their 21 april- 12 June offer is "standard" for each year.

PS. This offer is back on agian 12 August - 2 October  ;D

I agree with you on choosing TG over BR when TG is offering their reduced prices... But once their campain is over, EVA`s reduced price in Evergreen is one of the best offers on the marked. Almost equal to TG economy prices...

take away the prices TG is offering at the moment, I really can`t see how they manage to fill up their flights ???

Sorry, can only supply links to a norwegian site which I suppose won`t be of much help ;)

About the avatar, yes it`s a katoy  :o ;D
