Purple Parking at all UK airports goes bust

If youve left your car with Purples parking you could be waiting to get your car back, but Holiday Extras have bought the name so maybe all is not lost

A MAJOR airports car parking firm has gone into administration — causing chaos for holidaymakers, it emerged last night.

Travellers returning to the UK faced two-hour waits to retrieve their cars from Purple Parking, which has been operating at 26 airports for 25 years.

We're due to fly in 3 weeks and my partner normally books with them, but decided to book direct with Heathrow this time as it was cheaper - lucky us!!

It's a shame because PP always were very competitive and I've never had any problems with them, ever.

 

They used to have a massive site at LHR just near the Western International Market, but it got purchased last year I understand and now they operate out of what was formally the "Purple parking for business" (which used to charge a premium) premises on Bath Road next to the Premier Inn.

 

Hopefully they will continue to trade, given the amount of cowboys operating in the airport parking game, there is a place in the market for a decent firm like this.

A few years ago I used Purple parking and it led to my car being stolen. I left my car (and keys) whilst coming to Patts for 4 weeks. The day after my return, my car was stolen off my drive. They had cloned my keys, knew my return date and where I lived. All they had to do was wait for me to return and take it out of Purple Parking and turn up at my house at 4 in the morning with their cloned key which would bypass the alarm, then calmly drove away!

Ive never used Purple Parking in all the times Ive parked at LHR. I dont like leaving my car keys with anyone.

Ive always preferred either the Hotel and Parking deal or T2 Long Stay.
