day trip - chanthaburi?

I'll be with a friend on his first trip mid-October. he is limited on time. we have one free day and he wants to see the "country".

 

he has no interest in beaches, so I was thinking some sort of tour to Chanthaburi maybe?

 

3 hours each way on a day trip might be a bit much?

 

sort of stumped. without the time, hard to do anything really interesting like Khao Sok etc.

Have you thought about the river and temples in Bangkok?

Your friend needs to be told about never making plans when visiting Thailand, and especially Pattaya!!!
