Pattaya baht buses -  how much?

Recommended Posts

I've been reading about these baht buses that cruise up and down the main roads, and that the cost is 10 to 20 Baht.

How do you know what to pay when you get off?

I usually pay 10 baht.  Easiest thing to do is give the money to your girl (10 + 10) and have her pay.  Never get in a stationary baht bus.  Flag one down that is moving.

Slick, if you come from the USA and don't want to pay 10bht, man you are a Cheap Charlie...  :P

It's easy you hailt the Bus, get on, push the buzzer when you want to get off, if it was a long trip, hell pay the driver 20bht.   :)

Some people go from Pattaya to Jomtien and expect to pay 10bht.   What's wrong with a tip, SMILE and be happy.  What goes around comes around.  Remember you're a visitor so makeyour hosts impression of you last.  20bht must = what 50c US.  ???

Fellas,

Thanks for the info.

Perhaps my wording makes me sound like a cheap bastard, but that's far from it. I posted on another board asking how much the postage would be for sending out postcards from LOS and it's like 12-15B. One reply said I should save money for food instead if I couldn't afford the 15B.  :-[

So my questions are strictly for purposes of knowing how much to pay and not how to be a "cheap Charlie."  :P

If you read the wording for the fares at the back of the baht bus the fare is only 5 baht.

Generally,I think most people will pay 10 baht for anywhere on the 2nd road-Beach road route and ring the buzzer when you want to get off.

It is also possible to start your journey in Jomtien and go into Pattaya adding to this route for 10 baht.

However going back into Jomtien from Pattaya you would have to negotiate a fare beforehand (60-80 baht)

or go to the Jomtien tuk tuk stand on 2nd road opposite Pattaya Shoes shop near the lights (price 30 baht,I think)......dont worry about the cheap charlie image...spending money frequently on tuk tuks means less dosh for the important things in Pattaya !!
