EVA AIR'S BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

This is to any of you who have flown with Eva Air!

I am setting off on the 7th April from lhr-bkk and would like to know if Eva's policy is strict when it comes to over weight buggage! I am aware that when flying economy with Eva the buggage allowance is 20kg! but when I weighed my suitcase it came in at 26kg! will I have to pay for the extra weight or do they turn a blind eye if its just a little over like mine!

I have flown with many a different airline and I am yet to have any problem with this matter!

Cheers in advance!

Good Question Stiffler

I too would be interested in the reply as I fly with them on 17th April, same route.

I know other Airlines are not very strict.

Also dont suppose you know what the hand luggage allowance is - most airlines I have used in the past do not count a laptop within the hand luggage allowance, which is always handy.

Any info from you or anyone else is appreciated

Cheers

Dan

not a problem at all with Eva I have travelled 3 times with check in weights over 28kilos and they didnt blink an eye. As far as hand luggage is concerned they are equally as liberal.

have a great trip

Sorry man I was wrong. It's 32 KG not 40. Here is more what I get off the EVA Site.

Q: What is EVA Air's free baggage allowance?

A : Your baggage allowance depends on several factors, including where you travel. Allowances are determined by one of two systems. 1. A piece system applies for transpacific travel to/from North, Central and South America: Super First & Super Business Class

2 pieces of checked baggage allowed for each ticketed passenger.

Restrictions apply

- Dimensions - 158 cm ( 62 in.) or less per piece,

- Maximum Weight - 32 kg ( 70 lb. ) per piece.

Evergreen Deluxe Class

2 pieces of checked baggage allowed for each ticketed passenger.

Restrictions apply

- Dimensions - 158 cm ( 62 in.) or less per piece,

- Maximum Weight - 32 kg ( 70 lb. ) per piece.

Economy Calss

2 pieces of checked baggage allowed for each ticketed passenger.

Restrictions apply

- Dimensions - 158 cm ( 62 in.) or less per piece,

- Maximum Weight - 32 kg ( 70 lb. ) per piece.

The total dimension for the two pieces cannot exceed 273cm (107 in.)

Allowances for Children & Infants

Children traveling for 75% of the standard adult fare -

* same allowances as adult passengers traveling in the same class.

Infants and small children traveling for 10% of the standard adult fare -

* 1 piece of luggage allowed, with dimensions restricted to no more than 115 cms ( 45 ins. )plus one fully collapsible stroller or pushchair.

2. A weight system applies for travel to/from destinations outside of the Americas:

Super First Class ---------------40 kgs ( 88 lbs.)

Super Business/Business Clas--30 kgs ( 66 lbs.)

Evergreen Deluxe Class --------20 kgs ( 44lbs.)

Economy Class -----------------20 kgs ( 44 lbs.)

Allowances for Children & Infants -

Children - same allowance as adult passengers traveling in the same class.

Infant - 1 fully collapsible stroller or pushchair, 1 carry-on, & baby food for consumption during the flight will be allowed.

Eltib,

32kg? I thought it was 20kg for economy and 32 kg for evergreen delux economy! so its even better for me if this is the case!

Cheers Son!

Sorry Son, did not read the last bit of your post! 20kg from outside the Americas! so that will apply to me then! but as you said! its if you really take the piss with the weight allowance then they will intervene!

Thanks again!

Stiffler................I always use Eva ..........as far as i am aware the limits are 20kg economy and 25kg for evergreen deluxe............on top of these allowances you are allowed a limit of 7kg personnal bag. Do you have a personnal bag if not you could transfer the extra 6kg into one and that/ll give you 20kg in your suitcase. If you are travelling evergreen deluxe of course you/ll have no problems with weight. I travel with evergreen and once was bang on the 25kg limit for my case but wanted to send my personnal bag (7kgs) with it (to save me lugging it about amsterdam airport) and they wouldnt let me, even though it was all going on same flight! I reckon it depends how full the flight is sometimes as to how relaxed with the limits they are. You might be pushing your luck at 26kgs if you have a personnal bag as well. Out of interest let us know how you get on. :beer

Stiffler: I always travel EVA, I am always overweight and have never had a problem or an extra charge. However, I fly on another airline to the gateway (usually SFO) and always have my bags checked through from PDX. My personal bag is nearly always overweight and has never been checked.

Coming back I always leave from BKK and they never seem to notice -- I think everyone is overweight their.

Check out flying via Amsterdam Schipol. IE Belfast - Amsterdam - Bangkok.

Times may still be unsuitable tho' (Midday"ish" departure from Amsterdam)

It seems that Eva's policy is strictly applied if the flight is full and/or they are fully laden with freight. I got hit for excess baggage charges in June last year when I was carrying 26Kg baggage plus my golf clubs. Unlike some other airlines, they only carry golf clubs as part of your 20Kg allowance in economy. So, I got hit for the weight of the clubs plus my 6Kg overweight.

thanks fatboy and tom

Amsterdam is no good as can't depend on Easyjet to make connections and I have to be back in UK by 27th

Have now got a good deal with EVA through local travel agent - reasonable price flights plus hotel at heathrow on the way back and then morning flight to belfast

would cost me £ 50 at least.

am going out 28th August and returning 26th September

4 weeks in paradise with my TG - me no butterfly !
