Does anyone know anything about this hotel?

Is it GF?

Is it upscale?

Where in Bangkok is it in relation to the entertainment places?

My travel agent insists on giving me a free night there and I might as well stay in Bangkok the first night after my plane touches down in august before I head off to Pattaya for 3 weeks.

Its on Sri Ayuthaya Rd if my memory is correct.

Not far from the Skytrain and frowns upon joiners methinks

I've stayed there a couple of times. Very nice hotel and very close to a sky train station - within 100 yards or so. Siam Square is 2 stops away by skytrain, with Soi Cowboy a few more stops away. I think to get to Soi Cowboy, you have to change trains to get there but that's not a major problem.

I haven't done any mongering in Bangkok :banghead but as far as I can remember they had a joiner fee of, I think, 1,000 baht. Certainly, overnight guests could be taken up to your room as I was heading down for breakfast one morning before heading off for the Floating Market and a tg came out a room with her bar fine from the previous night. She looked slightly pissed off though whether this was with the guy or what, I don't know.

It could be that she was being kicked out early to avoid the hotel staff knowing that he had had a guest staying overnight but I think this unlikely as to get to the lifts you have to walk straight past reception.

If your agent "insists" on your having some accommodation, then you are probably being sold and IT (inclusive tour) fare. You can choose the accommodation you want - you do not have to take what he offers.

Ditch the hotel and get one on Sukhumvit. You'll maybe pay a little extra but you'll be in the thick of it and not have to worry about skytrains etc.
