Singapore Air Longhaul flights...

Hi all, just booked for July a freebie on Singapore Air to try out its direct 18.5 hour flight from Newark to Singapore than connecting to BKK...anyone else plan on trying it out? The plane looks great and roomy, with excellent service...lets just hope it will stay in the air that long!!! Any experiences would be great...thanx and peace.

Cheap Charley wants to know how you got a freebie and can you get me one. I like flying SQ but on the cheap Charley fares I fly they don't give frequent flyer's miles.

 

I understand Thai is going to start flying JFK to BKK non stop. I don't know the start date.

 

I'm in Pattaya from 8 July thru 10 August. Let's hook up for a beer.

I flew Singapore in January London-Singapore-Christchurch. Seat pitch in economy is 32" which is murder on a long haul flight if you are 6ft 2incs. The service is excellent and you have individual screens. I was very happy to break the return journey by a side trip to Bkk.

Being a freebie I imagine you will look on the positive aspects. If they have a whip round for money for gas near the end of the flight perhaps you should begin to be concerned.

Growler...funny, I am 6'2" exactly...but the info for the 340-500 is very different from the rest of the fleet...executive economy has a seating arrangement of 2-3-2 for only 7 seats across the plane...and here are the stats for the seats..."The generous seat pitch of 37 inches (94 cm) and larger width at 20 inches (51 cm) of our Executive Economy Class seat is complemented with greater seat recline at 8 inches (20 cm).

With an adjustable legrest and footrest, you will be able to relax and sleep in greater comfort."

Big D...I will be in from July 30 to Aug 22, but probably only spending an odd day here or there in Pattaya...I am staying with #4 from my last trip report and are planning trips to the south and Vietnam along the way...Hope to catch you on a Tues or Wed, when I will be in town...the freebie is from star alliance FF miles...always good to fly and pay United prices (usually 725 RT) and get the free trip on a better partner...Thai or Singapore...Peace!
