  1. Don't bother... Hopefully things have changed (my experience is 3+ yrs old...), but: The only lounges (2) are run by Air China. You cannot get in without an invite card, make sure your airline gives you one. The lounge is rundown & stinky, ie. SHIT ! No bathroom in the lounge. No WiFi, but a few hardpoint LAN connections, bring your own T5 cable... I hope your layover isn't long. Good luck !
  2. I just copied this from their site... doesn't look like much of a sale: Start the New Year with a BANG! Sale Starts from the 24Dec till 14 Jan 2007 The New Year Winter sale is coming your way. Why not start the New Year with a BANG. Save valuable time by flying direct to Bangkok or Taipei with our special offer fares. Remember that only three out of four airlines fly direct from London to Bangkok and offer high resolution touch screen personal TV for every passenger (this facility is not offered on Thai Airways) You can also experience the luxury on a real long haul flig
  3. First, thank you Adam for making it a great party. I cannot believe you pulled it all together. All I asked for was some turkey, mashed potatoes, and the ingredients for mojitos, but he came through with stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, and even pumpkin pie - brilliant ! He even managed to get a second piece of the pie when the original was kidnapped. There is a reason why the Cherry Bar Pattay - Soi 8 is the little bar that could, and that is Adam and his great staff. You will always feel welcome at Adam's place, at least I do, if you don't - check your pulse.
  4. Only flown them in biz, not cattle class, but biz was above average...
  5. Wow, Adam ! Not one hair out of place, you go salon ?
  6. I've looked everywhere and $1900 is the best deal out of LAX or SFO. I can't wait for Oasis Hong Kong to start out of Oakland, it should make the SFO-HKG route a bit cheaper. Myself, I'll wait until the mid February madness. Good luck.
  7. What are your exact dates ? Not much better at $1900, but no long layovers: $1,608+ $298 taxes & fees = $1,906 per person Leave Fri, Dec 22 All Nippon Airways 7013 operated by United Airlines -- UA 0837 Depart: 11:23am Arrive: 3:30pm San Francisco, CA (SFO) Tokyo, Japan (NRT) 1 stop in NRT 11hr 7min | Boeing 747 Change planes. 8. Don't bother, man. Your insurance won't cover you and gas is about the same, but: - Driving on the left may screw with your brain - Pattaya is pretty small, almost everything you could ever want is within walking distance - Narrow streets with too many buses, motorbikes, & drunk pedestrians - No place to park - 25 cents to get on a baht bus and there's one every .5 seconds - Etc.
  9. Many hotels have WiFi... I think that's what you ask. If you stay on Soi 13, chances are you can pick up free signals, I did on my last trip by sitting close to the window.
  10. 3 days will cost you 1500 Baht at the airport, BUT... If you get caught by the BIB before you make it to the airport, you could be spending time behind bars. So... go to the immigration office in Jomtien and get an extension before you expire (30 days).
  11. The kebab dude on Soi 8 Kiss Food at sunrise The fruit dude on Soi 8 The Issan food chick on Soi 13 & Beach Rd - sticky rice, pig knuckles, salted fish, leafy green, herbs, and the tasty nam prik - yum. I'll pass on the raw cockles, but the LBFMs lub them. That O La La place on Soi 7 next to Rosie O'Grady's, tasty yams.
  12. ...but can you look at the miles you will earn before you fly ?
  13. EVA's site does not have an option to display miles, so you won't see the total until you get your statement, but SFO to BKK is 8,000 miles each way. I don't know where you're flying from though... Cool tool to check out mileage
  14. Should I cancel my trips next week and F-E-B-R-U-A-R-Y in order to take advantage of the upcoming rise in the USD ???
  15. Ask if they have a "joiner fee" instead, that's the wording they use. As a rule, most high-end hotels have the joiner fee, ie. Marriot, Dusit, Hard ROck, etc... If you're specific about which hotel you're staying someone here will know the answer. Good luck.
  16. Good point, Owen, I never thought of it... See you boys later, gotta check that Lotto ticket...
  17. Nice ! ...now all I have to do is collect that Social Security... will it be there in 23 more years ? According to your figures, that's an extra $96/mo. for me... in 23 years that may pay for 1/2 a BF... Thanks, Owen.
  18. Does this mean all of my drunken posts will be more difficult to find ?
  19. Nope, 15 miles north of Oaktown, just get off the train in Richmond, the BART station is right there.
  20. Next time get off the train at the richmond station and get a R/T BART ticket to SFO for only $12.30.
