  1. They get you from A-B, mostly safely, efficiently and quite punctual. They have a captive market that seems quite 'patriotic'. I couldn't get my USA colleagues to fly a non-USA carrier to China to save their lives, they were horrified that I would suggest them not getting their Airmiles! It was pretty much as you described.
  2. Well I priced them yesterday for Club Class and they were looking good until the taxes and charges went on and they ended up 20,000 baht over the cheapest. Too many overpriced UK charges!
  3. There will be another along shortly.
  4. Liam Gallagher is from Manchester!
  5. Oh yes, very droll.
  6. Is this in the elevator where Gabor lives? One has to wonder when safety notices are so badly written. A little like 'Pleas do smoke near the oil drums' Must be a drag waiting for the elevator to fill up when you want to get to bed..particularly after waiting a long time for the Songtaw to fill up to get to Jomtiem!
  7. You can't hollow out regular ones?
  8. I am from Lancs actually Atlas. It did happen to me in a hotel in Ubon, but not room same, lock ups behind reception. Yes, 16 degC here and naught a ripple on my pool for a few days. Those are obvious and unimaginative hiding places Atlas! I hollow out a turd and insert rolled up cash and leave it floating!
  9. Perhaps the 'Lovely Corner' Gonzo? Or the one on the other side? Their best song I think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRu6YRr1KtM
  10. Sorry to hear this. I am guessing it was a basic electronic keypad safe with an over-ride key. (Ithe keyhole often behind the batteries) Sounds like someone with access to the key is a thief. Other styles I have seen you need a laptop, interface software and a master password. There has to be some way to open it as so many guests check-out leaving them closed and locked despite the notices to not do so. There is also rumour that cheaper ones can be overcome by giving them a bump while turning the knob as the locking mechanism depends on gravity. As a person who has suffered similar I am now always wary, and keep a record of what there is in there and rechecking it every few days,
  11. You limit yourself then. That is 4 good Carriers and competitive fare offerers you take off your options. BA went off my 'options' some years ago for poor service, too many delay issues and an awful transfer at LHR. I may try them again now that it is T5-T5. although being limited duty free wise.
  12. Rock n Roller
  13. I used to ask the band at The Wonderful Bar to play this..... they just got on with murdering Hotel California for the 6th time that evening!
  14. The Phantom of the Opera
  15. I received some £ here in Thailand today. Got 54.25 baht. Pleasant surprise was no charge at the UK end.
  16. Or,if she is not available, and certainly she is not to me, perhaps as a starter in First Class en-route to Thailand.
  17. Well actually the £ has shown some strength in the last 4 days and someone I know (and I hope he knows) thinks it should be higher relative to the USD. And yes, if the problems in Thailand are resolved the Baht will come back..... Now 51.5 looks good relative to some months back, but currently I am trying to snare 54+ at the Thailand end. :
  18. Well it is a healthy serving and perhaps the ice would not survive. I prefer mine smoked, and of course I Googled the pic!
  19. Colourful, but is that how it is presented to the customer at the table? I wouldn't like the melting ice as I ate myself. This is nice.... But I was quite happy with 'lox and bagels' in the USA too.
  20. That looks good Patna, and the pics made me salivate. A much better presentation of smoked salmon too.
  21. If you are going to live in Pattaya most or all of the time, that is somewhat different from turning up occasionally and trying to find somewhere to stay. I suggest few would want to own a condo and leave it empty for 48 weeks of the year for their 2x2week visits....... A slight extravagance for many. Even then, a long term rental may be better than an ownership. The weeks you can't find any-place to stay in Pattaya are but a few. Everyone is different, and buying a condo is a serious spend. Despite my being anti-buying, I suspect some-time in the future I may go to live elsewhere in Thailand and hope to come back to Pattaya for 2-3+ months of the year. For that situation I would of course prefer a place I owned. I may regret not buying sooner than later, I think I do already. The spend on my current house put that idea to bed.
  22. He is in everything........... Fargo
  23. Bangkok Bank will give you 53.4 at the moment, so the independents will be offering more. That rate is crap and reflects rates outside Thailand. It took a sudden jump up when the 'State of Emergency' was declared, and I did a quick transfer request on Internet banking. They seem to have reduced their charges BUT make you wait longer as there is no sign of it!
  24. Airheads.
  25. That hasn't been my experience unless I have specifically asked for them to hold-back on the spices. Perhaps that is what they do in the tourist spots, I eat Thai at little places out of town. Kuwait must have come on well since my last visit there......
