There is a new Jae Jook restaurant near where I live......me, the TGF and a friend ate there and 4 large beers and food came to about 2400 baht. Me and the Mrs often eat out for 700-900 baht, but we stick to 3 plates, one of which is vegetables. Anything involving crab or large shrimp these days is going to surprise you as to the cost. I haven't eaten at one of the Walking Street places over the sea for over 5 years, lobster and those fried crab leg things a distant memory, probably cheaper in Boston. The TGF complains how much shrimp costs at the local scruffy market frequently. We often discover a new restaurant, they seem to be opening often, good for a while, but then the tourist buses arrive and we move on. Seafood is a popular luxury for many of the tourists and locals alike and that is impacting on prices and availability, I have heard others complain about the prices at the morning Naklua seafood market. Normal Thais, whatever those are, can afford it as much as I can....... those heading back to Bangkok stop by often on the Sukhumvit places I use.

Wow, what a shitty mess up. And I have just booked with them! Like most carriers I think, fine when everything works, but collapse at the slightest problem. With such a long delay they should have supplied you with food/drinks,did they? I shall have to see how mine goes, I normally find quality deteriorates after time with these carrers, causing me to switch. Qatar pissed me off with bad on-board service once during Ramadan and a shitty bus-transit at Doha. Perhaps Emirates next........! I recall when I gave up on British airways, my Manchester shuttle couldn't find a parking gate and we sat on the ground for ages, then were forced to exit the secure area at T1 and repeat security checks, then the aircraft at T4 couldn't leave as the jetway couldn't be retracted, had to wait some time to get some oink out there to reset the breaker or whatever on call out bonus! The final straw, was learning that in Biz Class, a shrimp cocktail meant just that, a shrimp!

Where was the flight from that went into Al-Ain? Very odd, I recall Al Ain from my days in Abu Dhabi back in the 80s, used to drive there to 'take a look', like many of the other Emirates, Nothing there at all back then. I was wondering if the pilot got lost, or that was where his house was?
