  1. I see someone is chasing you around giving negatives! As an update I ordered 2 items. One arrived via the regular Thai postman ex Switzerland, no taxes or any payment. The other arrived via UPS, ex Dubai, I was hit up for what appeared to be 7% tax on it's value.
  2. It actually says it is rated at 9.1 amps on the picture up there. It will support a bedroom AC, but my thoughts would be to keep the fridge going if the power is off for several hours...rather than have the contents defrost and horror of horrors the beer get warm. Lovely, sat on the balcony with cold beers and a fan blowing it's exhaust fumes your way waiting on the power to come back.
  3. I don't really know... it was some time back I drove past and saw it was under construction.
  4. And there is the big one at Bang Saray you must go along and try that one.
  5. Yes of course you can, and many do. Personally I just like to pay bills as they come in, it gives you a feel of how much electricity or water you are using and perhaps presses me to conserve. And I was told that in Thailand cancelling direct debits was difficult..... not convenient if you wanted to cancel your crappy TOT and get True internet.
  6. I have done that route quite a few times using both China Airlines and KLM. The AMS-BKK leg was always 747 and fine. Amsterdam is quite an efficient place and if you land there on time it will be okay.... just be efficient and head to the right gate area without being distracted too much by the shops... difficult with wife and kids.
  7. Sat wetting myself on the inside as the sun sets before me the village loudspeaker fired up and gave us a little musical rendition, a precursor to the usual announcements or propaganda. The wfiey's ears pricked up and she took note. Apparently the lake is low and our water supply is to become rationed to 3 hours in the morning and 4 in the evening. I had noticed a few outages in the last couple of weeks, one of them caught me out as I watered the garden and turned off the last sprinkler to an empty tank........ a tank that gets me through most outages unless I stupidly don't verify incoming supply before I water the garden. I think my water comes from a different place than Pattaya proper, I am out on the north side half way between Pattaya and Laem Chabang. So anybody taken a look at Mabprachan lately? I don't see Pattaya losing water, being a priority for tourism, I have never know the soapies close.. But here comes Songkran, when water is wasted to the tune of a few lakes, and rain isn't expected until after then.
  8. Because a guy comes to the premises and reads the meter, then issues a bill there and then from his little portable printer gadget perhaps. ????
  9. Cough up how much?
  10. Saïd Taghmaoui. 24hr
  11. My TOT bill can get delayed, I think it is issued from Bangkok. That place keeps getting shut down!!!! If I don't get a bill in the box I am likely to forget it and it won't get paid. It creates a slight problem as you can't pay it at the 7-11 if it is past it's due-by date. Some-times the TGF wakes me up and she will go to the TOT office Klang/3rd and take an old bill. Never been cut off yet.
  12. And crushing pedestrians?
  13. What do they buy those with?
  14. There will be fewer people in the hotels and restaurants,, and visitors to the themes. There won't be as many condos being sold.
  15. The heat begins to build.....

  16. You should also consider the Chinese Yuan too as it has also lost some value this year and they are also major Thai tourists. Was 5.47 now about 5.3. I selfishly hope that this prices both of them out of Thailand, well Pattaya really!
  17. Does the light in the fridge go off when you close the door?
  18. I am thinking Obsession meant a 3G Dongle (SIM card inside) which uses the telephone network to connect a computer to the internet. That is what I use when I am in the UK. No 'Wireless network' involved...which these days seems to be called WI-FI! I believe if you have the software that matches your phone (Nokia Suite for example) you can just connect the phone via USB to the computer and get internet connection that way.You should have some package/bolt-on with your phone network supplier. There might be an unsecured Wireless network in range too!
  19. Dorothy Hart (..24hr)
  20. A lot of smart-phones can supply you with an internet Wi-Fi hotspot in your condo for the weeks you are there can't they? Likely an easier option than having hard wired connection that costs you every month with or without usage.
  21. March is here, but we still have clear cool nights and sunny days.

  22. Bon Cafe? There are many places serving up coffee in the Malls and often busy with French who like their coffee.
  23. Yeah I use Adblock, but Noscript didn't last very long with me!
  24. I am wondering if my picture taken on arrival looks anything like me or the one on my passport after 20 hours or so and a few drinks and a restless attempt at sleep! Good luck with the problem!
