  1. Just out of reach! Gotta love builders with a SOH!
  2. Yes I asked at one place. You can barfine a girl out of the MP for the day for 300 baht. That is the same as an hours oily.
  3. Did you take a look down soi 15?
  4. I agree although I cannot imagine a 'catastrophic event'... I might add some weight to 'pilot suicide' by saying it could have been a form of protest by the flight crew and just flying into the horizon for some hours, hoping the aircraft would never be found is how they decided to do it. I am concerned we may never, ever find out.
  5. Steve McQueen.
  6. Do they still have the unlimited free refills and free papers for the retired in McD......? Used to be packed with old-boys when I went for my Sausage McMuffins on a weekend morning in Florida!

There is an option for synchronising with an Internet time server some-place. I have forgotten 'Mothers Day' a few times when in other countries and suffered the consequences next time I called. (I now get a reminder from Hallmark!)

  13. It is shite BigD, although a good bit better than what most hotels serve up. I thought Dunkin' Donuts was the place to be for coffee in the USA! What Fireman Sam said reminded me of when I had a cup in Mae Hong Son province and it was really good, so I asked the resort manager where they got it from, and was surprised to be told it was local.

  17. And now, new procedures. (From Thai Visa) LETTER TO BRITISH COMMUNITY CHANGES TO BRITISH PASSPORT SERVICES IN THAILAND Her Majestys Passport Office is making important changes to the way it delivers British passports overseas. The goal is to ensure that all British nationals living overseas receive a consistent, trusted, secure and efficient service whilst keeping the costs as low as possible. In order to do that, on 10 December 2013, responsibility for handling passport applications in Thailand passed from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to Her Majestys Passport Office. Following on from this, from 26 March 2014, British nationals in Thailand will submit passport applications, in person by appointment only, to the UK Visa Application Centre. All the information needed to complete the passport application process, including address and contact details for the UK Visa Application Centre, will be available on GOV.UK at https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports I know that this change will seem inconvenient, but the new measures being put in place support the wider public protection, helping to ensure that the risks of fraud and identity theft are minimised for those living and working overseas. If you need to travel urgently but your passport is not available, you should still contact the nearest Consular Assistance team at the British Embassy Bangkok In certain circumstances Consular staff may be able to issue an Emergency Travel Document but this is not a substitute for a full UK passport. So the best course of action is to apply as early as possible, and to make sure that you follow the new guidelines. Please note that our Consular staff will not be able to take calls about individual passport applications and they cannot countersign passport applications. If you cannot find the information needed on GOV.UK you should contact the Passport Adviceline on + (operates from 8am-8pm UK time) or e-mail: UK Visa Application Centre The Trendy Office Building, 28th Floor, Sukhumvit Soi13, Klongtoey-Nua, Wattana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand So if you are in Chiangrai, quite a long trip, plus over 4 weeks without a passport...........
  18. Perhaps you need to look closer...... One near to me, in-front of a 7-11, on first appearances appeared to be all Thai, but I touched the screen, and up came language options, Thai, English and Hindi......
  19. Phew..... need some rain here!

  20. ooops..... Martin Sheen

  22. Perhaps there have been complaints from the likes of BA...... people are finding it cheaper to fly via the ME. I am expecting there will be a rise in tax elsewhere to cancel this out. About time VAT was reduced .........
  23. I have eaten at a few places along that run along with on the pier. I don't recall seeing that one.
  24. Well £235 pound for the change is hardly small change is it? I bet that was a fair percentage of the original cost of the ticket. Glad to hear of your positive experience though as I am still mostly flying Etihad and will next month. I think it was Qatar last time where I was obliged to reschedule and there was no way you could do it on-line...and so calling customer service was the only option. I was peeved that there was a supplementary charge just for getting customer service to do this on top of the rescheduling fee. There was no alternative, they made YOU pay for there being no alternative, and making the payment was onerous. I nearly jumped on the train to Manchester to razz up their office. Generally not easy (or not cheap) to change outward flights too. I often wonder if non-UK airlines are obliged to add on extra for flying you up North, I heard a rumour of that once as the UK complained that they took business away from the Heathrow shuttle service.
