  1. Colourful, but is that how it is presented to the customer at the table? I wouldn't like the melting ice as I ate myself. This is nice.... But I was quite happy with 'lox and bagels' in the USA too.
  2. That looks good Patna, and the pics made me salivate. A much better presentation of smoked salmon too.
  3. If you are going to live in Pattaya most or all of the time, that is somewhat different from turning up occasionally and trying to find somewhere to stay. I suggest few would want to own a condo and leave it empty for 48 weeks of the year for their 2x2week visits....... A slight extravagance for many. Even then, a long term rental may be better than an ownership. The weeks you can't find any-place to stay in Pattaya are but a few. Everyone is different, and buying a condo is a serious spend. Despite my being anti-buying, I suspect some-time in the future I may go to live elsewhere in Thailand and hope to come back to Pattaya for 2-3+ months of the year. For that situation I would of course prefer a place I owned. I may regret not buying sooner than later, I think I do already. The spend on my current house put that idea to bed.
  4. He is in everything........... Fargo
  5. Bangkok Bank will give you 53.4 at the moment, so the independents will be offering more. That rate is crap and reflects rates outside Thailand. It took a sudden jump up when the 'State of Emergency' was declared, and I did a quick transfer request on Internet banking. They seem to have reduced their charges BUT make you wait longer as there is no sign of it!
  6. Airheads.
  7. That hasn't been my experience unless I have specifically asked for them to hold-back on the spices. Perhaps that is what they do in the tourist spots, I eat Thai at little places out of town. Kuwait must have come on well since my last visit there......
  8. It isn't the Ponderosa.

  10. An Artic blast 16 degC!!!

  11. Whose brain is worth it? Are you suggesting packing a helmet in his suitcase, or searching for a Pattaya rental company that offers these Snell approved helmets? I see part of the Snell testing (I had to look it up, never heard of it before), is 'Flame Resistant Test', that would be for you!
  12. Probably anywhere you can cash TCs......Amex being the most widely accepted. No personal experience recently but most money changers and all banks.
  13. The only further comment is you may need to 'allow' pop ups for one or two sites. For me, this site it is not necessary in Firefox, and yet I still see the PM pop-ups. The only ones I enabled were my mail program and an Internet Banking site. That is why I suggested leaving on 'Show Notifications' for a while to learn where you need to do this. Cheers.
  14. Well avoiding the obvious, the woman who got a lot...of his Sondra Locke
  15. It sounds like 'hoy crang' (slightly nasal 'o' and short 'g') Try this without the leading 'yam'... And beware the Thai for shellfish, 'hoy' also is slang for pussy!!! You can have a lot of fun with that. (Personally I can not get the pronunciations right and am NEVER understood in Thai, they don't seem to have an ear for my errors!)
  16. Nice to hear of somebody doing well... but perhaps the currency fluctuation helped out too. 2004 would have made been a good time to exchange those USD. And the Pattaya condo market (it's rapid expansion in the last 5) no doubt very positive. Personally the Nirun would not suit me.... a one bedroom unit with a sea-view on Jomtiem might have. As to buy or rent, depends on a person's age and financial status. I see it as a renter's market at the moment, and a 65 yo retired single man whose finances are limited should not consider buying a 2mil condo he could rent for 10k a month and restrict his spending. Do you have any personal opinions on how the 'condo market' may go in the next year. Can the prices hold up, or go even further up?

  21. I have a preference for what time I arrive! At the UK end, mornings, quite early. Time to get a train, home, shower, a cup of tea, then down town to the bank and a lunchtime pint or two. Landing in Bangkok, similar time, but maybe to get back to Pattaya and into the AC for a nap.
  22. Yes it reminds me of many meals I had at the smaller place that was just across the alley, (Sang Chan?) Some items were brought over from the Marine. Back in the days when I could afford seafood near Walking St!
