  1. Piss poor attitude that will likely reduce that 90% occupancy figure. I was always impressed with the lady who manages the place, she had good attitude and kept herself busy. I am now trying to find an alternate 'apartment style hotel' as I like the extra space and facilties over a hotel room. I have just had enough of the open air music which is present every night around here. (yes I got ear-plugs!).
  2. I would like to set up internet access on my mobile and laptop. I have a bluetooth enabled laptop (XP-pro) and mobile( samsung D500), and I use TH GSM 1-2-call prepaid. Just for occassional in room access, normally I plug my laptop in at the internet cafes. Easy or not so?
  3. I like the Nova but you do make some valid points. (See reviews) I was amused to read that the owner is Israeli, my last stay there I was greatly disturbed by Arab neighbours (anybody who has been to the Arab world will know what I mean)....perhaps I could have had them 'sorted out'. I always booked a monthly deal including electric so AC was never off. Yes dog packs around there are a nuisance, the dog catchers came around once but they breed pretty quick. I was also disturbed by open air concerts, I think one was on the adjacent land for 2 out of the 4 weeks when I last stayed there. Even now, as I stay in a different place, an open air concert has been annoying me, it has a scheduled stay of 2 weeks......it is even nearer to Nova park than my current room. Thump-thump-bang-bang of bass until 1 or 2am gets tired after a week! I wonder the hotels in this area don't formally complain. The shape of the Nova Park seems to focus 3rd rd noise into it's bedrooms. And never, never consider the Nova lodge!
  4. Someone mentioned Nok and Air Asia but I do not believe they fly to KK (from BKK) as you call it.... I believe you can get on the train to Kong Kien at Don Muang station which is easier than going into the city, but trains have a pretty poor schedule...ie not too many of them. You probably know that loads of AC buses leave for Kong Kien from Mochit.2...perhaps why the flights are scarce.

    HSBC

Err it was 1.88 USD/£ when I looked today. Your numbers look pretty close to what I paid using my UK based HSBC ATM car in Thailand, namely darned expensive. My Standard Chartered worked out about the same. Cash or travelers cheques were better. I need to get to Nationwide I guess, what interest rates can one get?
  6. Going via Bangkok may not be so ridiculous. I know you can go to Korat from Pattaya via Nakonchai air on Sukhumvit, but the damned bus stops at every town en-route, plus stops on demand frequently. I prefer to change at Mochit.
  7. They are far better equipped than the RG....... Delux just means you are on the ground floor and can walk from bedroom to pool area.
  8. Well you may need to spend a bit more money to get all of this. I like Nova Park, but their studios are 25k. Nova Park Good luck
  9. Slightly off topic here but does anyone know what really happened at Hemel Hempstead? I mean it was major fire and exploson but I have yet to learn what was the cause.
  10. Well I will answer my own question which might be of some use to someone! Chasing 2 good replies to website enquiries, located in BKK. Although I do not have the ticket in hand yet! Best Price.... Next best price Before the cynics suggest it....no I have no interests in either company....
  11. Yeah, that's how I got to be out here in Thailand.......just can't get them to take me back. BA actually called me here the other day.....after over 3 weeks of messages through their web page (their system will not accept a 'reply' email, you have to start again on their web-page. Each new message is likely not read thouroughly and you get a standard 'blurb' reply.) Thanks for the offer, but the once available seats are no longer there.
  12. Well that was the amount requested. I guessed it to be LHR airport service charge and a government tax on the shuttle LHR-MAN I did pay 80 GBP tax going the other way. Anyhow couldn't get the booking, couldn't get help, available seat no longer there.
  13. Sadly BA have managed to stitch me up. Due to some web booking flaw my BAmiles seat is no longer available, I was unable to grab it. So I would like to get back to UK one way. Preferrably business class or premium economy. Any recommendations for web-sites or Bangkok agents who could get me a deal! Fly first week March...pretty flexible.
  14. damned funny stuff, sorry I got such a good laugh out of your discomfort. Reminds me of a TAROM flight I did years ago when I was poverty stricken. More flight horror stories please! Not only funny but helps me justify spending too much on a biz class flight.
  15. Nice to know that there are more choices now for a Manchester lad like myself. The Moscow stop sure is disappointing though.... the A340-300 range of about 8000 miles is not quite enough. Not a great lover of HK myself, okay for shopping but certainly not P4P...rather expensive those club places!
  16. And in the UK they pull the money as soon as you book. Sometimes I have not even shown a copy of the e-ticket or the credit card. In Bangkok for example, I just show the passport and they pull up the booking. BA are not in the habit of giving out free upgrades, unless you are a goldcard member and travelling on a fully flexible economy ticket. Which this gentleman is not.
  17. Well I suppose the devil is in the detail. I normally get a triple entry tourist visa, which has a validity of 6 months from the date it is put in your passport, so if I extended a couple of times, or spent time elsewhere......my 3rd and final entry could be near to the expiration date of the visa. If I then, after the 60 days, tried to extend at Immigration dept, it would be based on an 'expired' visa and may be treated differently. Any opinion? I did extend a 30 day 'permission to stay'....once, but I think he only gave me 7 days. So I had to book a day return flight to Singapore. Thanks for feedback......crossing Friendship Bridge later today, 2nd border run on my triple.
  18. Redwood.....you sure about the 30 day extension? I personally have never extended a tourist visa....I like to take a trip. But I read on another Pattaya site, discussing tourist visas. You can extend each stay once (for approximately 15 days, costing 1900 baht) on application to any Immigration Office (and if very lucky maybe again for 7 days), but do NOT rely on this.
  19. A double entry tourist visa would also cover you! Easier to get than a multiple entry non immigrant "O" visa After 60 days you would need to do a border run......possibly staying out of Thailand for those odd 10-12 days (depends how many days in the months). Or you could do a one day border run, then get a 15 day extension at the end of the 2nd entry 60 days.....
  20. No there are not. It is only 2 hours in a limo.
  21. Yeah that is pretty expensive really. I use the Nova Park, further away from the action but not too far from the Pinewood. Room safe and free internet by WiFi standard. Although in Dec05 building work was starting nearby
  22. Funnily enough I previously stayed at the Dusit Resort, very nice hotel and they just seemed to pay no attention to who I brought back, whereas the Montien gave me all sorts of aggravation. I would advise anyone not to use hotels that charge a joiner fee, aggravating and hypocritical (I had security standing outside my door in one place as my keeper was still in the room after midday and they wanted that days payment NOW! They kept calling the room too.) Book a place you KNOW do not charge. Cannot go wrong with RG.
  23. Seems ridiculous that I have to ask this question here, but BA seem incapable of answering a direct question via email and long distance telephone calls leave you hanging there clocking up the baht. I flew to Thailand months ago on a free one-way ticket using my BA miles. I didn't know when I would want to return, plus availability is easier if you book one way. Figured I would use my BA miles again to go back and found an available flight (BKK to MAN) in Club class, everything seemed to work until the last step, having put in credit card details for a 50 quid tax charge.........then nothing. No error message, internet screen says DONE...but no reservation and a blank screen. Anybody done this, booked a flight on BA on the internet using Executive Club miles originating in BKK to UK?
  24. Maybe you mean the chances of contracting HIV from an infected person by "contact" is 1 in a 1000 but per the quote this is poorly put. I believe HIV could be contracted by a single contact.......
  25. Rubbish........ You can get buses from Mo Chit to Pattaya and Kanchanaburi which is West. Why would you go into Bangkok from the airport to get to traffic snarled Ekamai. Buses from Moe Chit to Pattaya run to about 7pm about every 1/2 hour. Some travel via the motorway (extra few baht) which is quite fast, the others go through Bangkok on the expressway.
