Excellent commentary. Lek-was fun, Coral Reef fun, Hooty's ...my favorite...this trip that is but really I find that the selection of ladies bends my opinion more than price. Yeah, I could spend hours in there and come out with a tab rivaling my bar tab in the States but I went pretty hog wild with the girls who are very accomodating. Casino is fun. The most expensive place I went was Candyland Disco on WS 4 drinks = 700 B but the live band is fun.

I was at the Rock House in the past 4 weeks. Sadly I am back in the States. To get back on thread and off the jokes: I ate the Gyros on the corner of Buhkao and LK at Rock House a couple times. 50 Baht for Chicken in a Pita with fixings and 50 Baht for my beer at Rock House. Then off to see Paa at Lolitas for total of 900 lunch and a girl....I wanna go back!! I tell you LK and the Rock House are good quiet afternon jaunts.....I hope folks can get that information through all the haggles....I don't own a bar either. The Metro has a great bar and pool with wifi.

Yes, stayed view talay 2 for 1 month. Good pool, safe and quiet. It is in Jomtien but easy transportation options.

pattaya hill resort Depending on how long you stay this is a pretty good value. They are a baht bus ride away from action but have nice 2 bedroom units.

I'd say you are not gonna clear the airport until after 2AM. If the new airport is not done then you are looking at arriving Pattaya til 4-4:30AM. Unless I was going to stay a full day in BKK I would probably head out to Pattaya. Make sure your hotel will let you check in early. If you don't find BF on Soi 7,8 then just eat, hit your pool then Soapie by Noon and Soi 6 by 3PM. Up to you!

I am not an ex-pat but I found rubies and saphires to be the better deal in LOS just as Emeralds are best deal in Columbia. Mix in smaller diamonds but anything over .25 carats is not a deal in Thailand. Settings are where you can win-- they are cheaper in Thailand but watch for quality and weight. Know your stuff. I bought a beautiful natural sapphire set in custom white gold setting with 2-- .15 c diamonds for my daughter. Paid about half I would in US. I bought in BKK on Sukhumvit after checking everywhere. I did see some deals in Pattaya while changing money at the gold shops.

I have traveled as an ex-pat far too much. Unless you have a company move or willing to spend the cash to ship it you should reduce the non-sentmentals. Estate sale, consignment shops, gifts to kids,ebay support companies will sell it for a commision. Tax right off if you fit the bill for taking cash outs early. It's a hassle but done when it's done and you start fresh! Best wishes on the eandevor.

I went to Sydney after a month in Thailand and surrounding jaunts. I got thoroughly searched in Sydney on my way to Cairns for holiday. I left Sydney two weeks later and headed home to SFO. They got me as well. They found some prescribed meds from BKK and went bonkers-- 2 of them going through my stuff. I had some medical work done in Bumrungrad which seemed to calm them down. They went through my purchases pretty thoroughly, even asking if I had brand copies. I was wearing a Von Dutch hat but the old guy just turned it inside out. I shrugged my shoulders and they carried on. Thailand

My first post here but this is a common problem for me. I have one TG that turns off her phone for a lot of reasons. Usually it will forward me to a message service and say so in Thai and English. If I don't get the service I will get an email telling me about a broken phone or no pay bill. If operator is saying something like Mai mee khrap rap sai kaa...means something like nobody answers. I love that operators voice.

Guess I'll break my posting cherry here I can not open the link in the post above regarding the members bars. I'd like to check it out for my September trip plans. Do I need an upgraded membership? I'd like to visit those bars and put some faces with the posts.
