I use a Toshiba laptop with Vista...I'm fine with Vista. I started using the Solomon Edge modem with an AIS sim on my Dell laptop with XP...I switched to Dtac as it seemed to work better here in Huay Yai south of Pattaya. Last March I bought the Toshiba...all worked well. Last year around this time I was having difficulty getting an internet connection then all cleared up. I thought it might have been the new laptop and OS....now it is starting again. I can get a Dtac connection into the system easily but when I want an internet connection it says I am not authorized...I need to try

I stopped by twice before but the shop was closed...the second time I looked at the small sign on the door and saw that it is closed on Sunday...It was sunday...so, yesterday, Tuesday, my wife and I stopped by. We couldn't stay so ordered 4 beef and 4 chicken tacos to go. The beef was OK and the chicken a bit dry...in fact, the beef was tasty...the sauce provided was very mild but added to the chicken it moistened it up a lot. I enjoyed both the taco types with the beef tasting the best to me. Next time I will have sour cream and/or guacomole added to it..both of these are for sale at

Last evening a Thai family (the adult daughter was married to a farang and is gorgeous) looked at the land and said they will buy for sure. Looks like it sold the first day. Now my friend can take care of his medical problems.

Do you support capital punishment?
Craig replied to azharleyboy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I do not support capital punshment but I certainly understand the impulse to have this punishment particularly for heinous crimes. As was stated statistics show it does not deter crime and with many examples of DNA evidence clearing convicted people the system is too corrupt or unrefined to be sure of the guilt. Here corruption is so rampant and the police are quick to find scapegoats....for example trying to blame the singer in the band for the latest nightclub fire and evidence soon showed they lied. Thailand is not alone in this corruption...this morning the paper reported US judges givi -

Loy Krathong -- BKK or Pattaya?
Craig replied to Mescalito's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I spent last Loy Krathong in Jomtien....the beach was full of people floating candles into the sea and launching candles with plastic parachutes into the sky. Actually, lots of fun and I enjoyed it. I rent a bungalow between Jomtien Beach and Sukhumvit road and sitting on my porch looking at the candles float by in the sky was neat. This year I will go with a bunch of Thai friends in a private minivan to Sukhothai for the festival...They plan on sleeping under the stars and not in hotel room...these are mature responsible folk and not thrill seeking kids...I'm a bit hesitant about the s -
I have a goatee and the women don't mind. The major thing they don't like, or at least what they tell me, is a foul smelling man. Therefore, I take great care in cleanliness. As Irishman said "it's about MONEY." Some of the bar girls seem to enjoy playing with the goatee. In any case enjoy.

Yes, it is the Southern Bus Station. I took the bus from Kanchanaburi last week and this is where I ended up.

My TG worked at Tesco in the seafood department and earned 5700 baht, she says starting wage is 4700 baht and cashiers make around 6200 baht. Senior staff more. Thisi s for six days a week and 8 hours a day. She worked for three months at the north Pattaya Tesco...she lives near Sattahip and didn't like the commute so she quit. She worked at a restaurant that also made meat products...she cleaned the freezer, made sausage, packaged meats....she earned 3500 baht and says she would have earned more if she stayed longer...the people also earned tips....she says her share came to around 1

Saigon Butterfly....I don't know what was in the needle but whatever it was...I felt no pain during the entire process...I told the dentist that I was hard to deaden sometimes. She said lets try whatever was in the needle and if I felt any pain to indicate that to her and she would give me more....I didn't need anything else. I was given a handful of large pink pill to take if I felt anything at home...no pain so I didn't use....my girlfriend has use two over the last few months when she has a menstrual cramps. Sorry, I can't tell you what I was on...I just know it worked

I had extensive dental work done at Bangkok Pattaya hospital and am very pleased with the result. I had four root canals and a crown that required a post being placed in the remainder of the tooth. The work was painless and I had the undivided attention of the dentists and assistant during the treatment. I specialist worked on the root canals and an American educated (Cornell) did the crown work. Much below the US price but maybe a bit more than the one man operations.

I agree with the prior posters about Evergreen Deluxe. The extra room and that you can raise a foot rest are really nice on the long haul across the Pacific. The food is good. I've upgraded by flight coupons to Business a couple of times. I must say I liked Business a lot, the food is fancier and the seats are more comfortable, but Evergreen Deluxe is a far better deal. Also, that you don't have to wait in line at the check-in counter behind half of Taiwan waiting at the economy counter with carts piled high with boxes and luggage. I hope that as more people become aware of EVA

In case anyone is interested...I did fly to Khorat on my 9 baht tickets. The flight was an hour late and a flight on Air Asia to Phuket was over 2 hours late...they provided some sort of snack from an airport cafe to those waiting to go to Phuket. The plane, we flew on, had new real leather seats and hardly anyone on the plane...the crew almost outnumbered the passengers. The plane was clean, the crew friendly and we arrived without a scratch. So, Air Asia is for real and my worries about them honoring the ultra cheap tickets were unwarranted. I plan on using them for my Chiang Mai tr

I've been purchasing DVDs from the Tuesday/Friday market at Soi Bukhao and So. Pattaya road. The dealer Redwood13 mentions sells them for 150-200 baht...I paid 140 each because I didn't need the plastic case. He rates them as 100% and 90% for those still in the theaters. He has a TV and player in the shop and will play them for you to show the quality. He doesn't have a huge variety but I found some nice titles. The quality is good. I have one that played on his DVD player but wouldn't start on my main DVD player (it is a multiarea player)...it does, however, play on my portable DVD p

Thanks for the info, I hope to find one that will stay not fall apart while I am staying there. I fly for 9 baht plus tax on the 7th for a three day visit.

Starry, thanks. We plan on taking the day train back to BKK, want to see the scenery and all. You said the plane is parked a long way from the terminal...should I expect a bus ride out to the plane when I leave? Again thanks, Craig

Thanks for the replies...Sunny Valentine, I don't expect much on the short one hour flight. I am just amazed that I got two tickets for virtually nothing...If this works I am looking to fly to Chiang Mai in September with the same TG.
-
My TG has never flown before and I was surfing the net and found the Air Asia site and two tickets to Khorat for 9 (nine) baht each plus tax. I bought them online and have a confirmation email with number and flight details....so, the question is: Are these real tickets and will we have seats on the flight? Has anyone flown with this new airline at these ridiculous prices?

Adding a Picture to my Profile
Craig replied to potterces's topic in Technical problems or questions.
I have the same question. If anyone knows how to do this please reply. -
I will visit Khorat for several days and am looking for a clean inexpensive hotel. I will have my Thai girlfriend with me so don't need any local talent. Any advise would be appreciated. Anything you would recommend to me to see while there?
