Will be interesting to see in the washup of the Cup, if we get to hear about any criminal activities towards visitors. Probably the Sth African Govt and FIFA will hush it up. Really I guess its like anything if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. It wasnt so long ago that Johannasburg had one of the worst crime rates on earth.

For the previous few world cups Australia had to play in Oceania and playNZ, fiji etc to win the right to play, i think it was the 5th ranked South American team which was just crazy. Aust lobbied to get into the Asian group which makes sense. NZ won Oceania this time then had to play Bahrain from the Asian group qualify which they did. The kiwis have done a bloody good job ever since then.

What airline is Dave Barry's prefered carrier?

They were non-commital about the next one but told us to beware it is coming. We were told EXACTLY how long until the show started and how long each skit would be. Punctuality was an ongoing theme. They had a nice pinup of Angela Merkel to whom they refered lovingly. It was very deadpan, funny and finished on time. Almost forgot, they said that WW2 ended badly because that Austrian with the stupid moustache fucked it up.

Ha, I went to a show during a comedy festival called '1,000 years of German comedy'. The 2 guys were very good at taking the piss out of themselves. They insisted that World Wars were a best of 5 event.

That Ref is the only one I have see so far that isnt into histrionics and showmanship. The Yanks are lucky if they have scored him. Many officials in high profile sports seem to be of the opinion that the crowd are there to see them.

Which USA players do you think should take the penalties should the situation arise? -
3 things FIFA should change for the next World Cup

I agree but it doesnt happen does it. Players in all sports make mistakes then the refs/umpires have to make a decision. In Football/Soccer, if nobody ever pushed, tripped, put their arms up, tackled badly, ran offside etc etc the ref wouldnt HAVE to make a decision. The game would flow beautifully. When I was playing Footy in Australia I complained to the umpire about what I thought was a crap interpretation. He looked at me and said 'Well if you dont fuck-up, I wont have to make a decision'. "Fair enough' I said as I skulked off. -
What is the take off velocity for a fully laden Boeing 737?

What airlines do Japan and South Korea use to get to South Africa?

Ha well, I got the second youngest squad thing from a British commentator so I guess any or all could be wrong. The Cup gets very interesting from now on. I am very happy the Italians got booted out.
-
I think you are under-rating the box-heads ability to take a little schtick and laugh at themselves. After all they are known worldwide for their sense of humour and their amazing comedians such as ...mmm .. errrrr
-
If FIFA has a sense of humour they will appoint a ref from a Muslim country for the USA's next game against Ghana. And the USA should win that one. Well done on avoiding ze Germans.
-
Correct, Germany is the second youngest squad! One World Cup and two World Wars ... doodah doodah!
-
I agree with your Portugal, Argentina, Germany assessment. Dunno about the Americans being the stars of the group play?? You just mean just their group or the WC overall?
-
Congrats to the Yanks. Well done. Joe that was one of the most blatant offsides ever. Cant complain about that one i'm afraid.

Maybe there will be an airline deal if the USA gets put out in the next stage? I thought he had banned himself?

Looks great. Will give it a try when I am in Pats in a few weeks!

After last night the entire team from Chile is worth a vote. As for Drogba, I call him the earthworm. He spends more time wriggling around on the ground than on his feet.
-
Just watching the Chile vs Swiss game. Someone must be shooting the Chile players as they are dropping like flies. So far it hasnt been that bad but as the stakes get higher, the Academy Award hopefuls are starting to come out. On SBS in Australia tonight they highlighted in slow motion the Italians falling over. It was hilarious. One guy grabbed his own face before the ball even reached him. No award for him! Please add any other examples you see.

I didnt know thats why I asked smartarse. Thanks for the educated response.

Well I did little checking. The USA beat the following international powerhouses to qualify, Barbados (256,000) Trinidad and Tobago (1,339,000) Cuba (11,269,400) Guatemala (14,027,000) Group 1 Team MP W D L GF GA Pts USA *6 5 0 1 14 3 15 Trinidad and Tobago * 6 3 2 1 9 6 11 Guatemala 6 1 2 3 6 7 5 Cuba 6 1 0 5 5 18 3 Impressive. Interestingly where were the matches againt Cuba played? Actually going through the results to see how teams qualified does make interesting reading. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries...gs/round12.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_count...ulation_density

I walked past an Italian the other day. He threw himself on the ground grabbing his shin and crying for a free kick. I was in Woolworths!
