My mate gets through about 3 books a week. One of his Thai freinds is a maid at a hotel. She brings him the ones left in rooms by Ferangs. You will get a few you cant read, but it might be a good contact to make if you know any hotel cleaners.

I am not too sure about this, but if you have property in Los owned by your Thai wife, does becoming British put her ownership as a Thai into some doubt ? A freind of mine had this problem, but like so much there, it seems to go with who you deal with at the airport on arrival/departure. My mate's wife uses both her Thai and U.K Passport for entry and departure and has had no trouble- so far.

?????????????? Got it- "Wifebeater" knew you were a Lager Lout. Got confused with my old dad's Nelson's Blood, usually Woods.

For me, the lack of ale in LOS, is an inconvenience, but not life changing. I think the beer is stronger to allow for the ice that the locals always put in it. By the time that has melted, your 5%+ is down to less than 4. I bought my GF some Chang in U.K and she didn't like the taste. Singha seems to be the same as in LOS, though. There has to be a market for imported ales, but perhaps the Thai's would tax it off the market. The Aus' beer VB is the nearest thing to a non lager, I have had in LOS. The price of beer in the U.K, does make the local beers seem a bargain for the first week or so, then you start to compare between brands. The thought that you can get sloshed for just £3, does give it a novelty factor :-)

Got the summer house almost finished, cor it was hot work. Had to stop about 10pm when light got a bit low. My Thai lady does the cooking, it just needs me and my son to prepare the Jerk Chicken and sticky ribs- and hey, we get to drink real beer with it too ! What do you fancy ? A London ale, Burton, or some of that gnats pee called Fosters ? I will return to LOS in Feb'. Can't stay too long, I miss a decent drink. I love it when you talk dirty ! Love from the shithole xxxxx

I was going to tell you lot in LOS, that the weather in SE England is great, havn't stopped Barbbecuing for a month now. Sitting here, with the door open, birdsong drifting across the garden and forcast of a hot weekend ahead. My summer house is being delivered today, can't wait to set it up with fidge and cold beer. I won't mention it though, there's enough trouble in the world. :-)

Bud Rayong, would be my choice of area to stay long time. My mate has a house there, about 4 miles south of the town, toward Ban Peh. A place called Hadmaerangpeun. At the moment, it is not Faranged up. There are 2 nice hotels, houses/ condos to rent and a English owned bar/ guest-house. All prices for rent reflect an area used by Thai's. Although there are taxis to Rayong that run along the beach road, your own transport, would be usefull. The beach is empty and clean, seafood and beer available on beach day and night at very reasonable prices. In the area, Rayong has a Tesco and Big C, Ban Peh has a market for fish of every type, plus a night market once a week. There is an excellent Restuarant in the area a few miles away, for that special occasion. My mates 80 year old dad had to go to Rayong Hospital when he broke his Achilles tendon. He had first class treatment, in luxurious surroundings. Let me know if you want more detailed info, I can get you price of house rental, renting for a year is no problem. Cheers, NNH

Must be popular in Pattaya, lots of girls have been stung on the chest by them. :-)

Nationwide give a better exchange rate than Barclays by 2 baht- GBP for ATM transactions. The ATM being free of charge, makes them a better outfit to be with.
-
If Barclays miserly exchange rate is anything to go by, they have made enough on your cash to cover your TC's.

What I Saw Today in Pattaya
nidnoyham replied to blueeyes's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Low tide in Pattaya. An oppotunity to collect all those crustacean covered broken bottles, that are so painfull to tread on. That was when I used to swim in the sea. I wait until I ge back to the pool now. -
I won't ever retire to LOS, but if I did, I would like to do a little bit of light employment on the QT. perhaps brokering insurance for BG'S going to stay with their BF'S for a while in Europe, Aus' or wherever. make a few Bhat and provide a service. I don't think such a service exists yet. But some Thai insurance company, must take an interest. What if your GF has a fatal accident while in your country? How much would that cost you ? Mine is here for 6 months, would have used such a service myself.

Do you remember Linda Beloise ? She was a Labour councilour in London about 10 years ago, she was all of those. Don't hear of her now though.

A bloke from Essex was gunned down outside his house, in front of his kids the other day. It is everywhere.

Why aren't you at home voting young man ?

I can't see this rule ever being enforced, they can't even sort out foreign criminals, what chance of Brit's who spend a few months away from home ? With the cuts in the NHS. most staff wont give a toss anyway. They are missing the point, many people spend time abroad to get hospital treatment, so are avoiding the NHS.

Is that a Punjabi/ Pakistani/ Somalian or Eastern European British accent ?

Chaps, Remember Alan is a Scot, the canniest people with money, give him a stone and he'll get a drop of blood for you ! Scott's and money- you'r not in their league mates. :-)

I sometimes wonder, if Governments world wide, tell all banks to make money transfer to other countries as expensive as they can to disourage it. Or the banks are just greedy bastards, making money for old rope. The two biggest buildings in Docklands, London are next to each other, Barclays ans HSBC. They don't produce as much as a darning needle between them. Banks I 'ate 'em.

Thanks elef. That's a few bob to find !

My mates retirement visa is due for renewal in June, he is not sure how much he needs in Thai bank. He seems to think because the bah tis stronger he needs abaout 3 times last years amount. I have a feelng a bit of shuffling of money may be required.
