Heartbreak ! -
Me too, Danny the Dane on our Kibbutz back in the 70's- He was big too ! If I can remember him from 30 years ago, I am confident I am right about this Big Dane Two years ago.

You sure this is you're first time on this board ? I am sure I have crossed swords with this someone with this handle in the past. Unless you have chosen the same name as a previous member.

You have a point Dungheap, but from our division, I can't help but wish the lads well in their higher paid jobs. 3 years ago, DJ Campbell was working as a warehouseman for DHL at Heathrow. He played part time for Yeading, who had an FA cup draw against Newcastle. He played well, our club gave him a chance to play professionally and he did us proud. Martin Alan, the manager, knew he had a bad attitude at Yeading and told him to knuckle down, which he did. He scored 2 goals against Sunderland in a cup game on the Saturday and was transfered to Birmingham 2 days later. Last week he scored against Chelsea in a cup match. Good luck to the boy. Another player Jay Tabb, was one of our juniors, who come good. he scored against West Ham in the cup. If you can score goals, everyone wants you. We get players on loan who are defenders or goalies, but to get a free loan of a striker is almost impossible.

You remember Gary Sprake punching some one ? How he got away with it is still a mystery. P'raps the ref' just thought- Oh he's welsh.......

Just as an aside. Harry Redknap, the Portsmouth, manager, is complaining that the Africa Cup Next January, could stop his team qualifying for Europe next year. Their main goal scorers will be away in Africa playing for their country. All I can say is Som Nom Nah. No doubt Arsenal and a few others will be in the same boat - Good ! I can be quite bitter sometimes. Watched an Italian game Sunday, not only was the female presenter a fair sort ( They can't be real ) nearly all the players had Italian names. Could this have any connection to them winning the World cup ?

I don't know who was responsible for the huge losses at Leeds, but it is happening all over the sport. The higher football management, is less transparent than Government. Managers live in fear of the whims of the owners- look at Chelsea Many lower teams sell their best players to the richer clubs, but they are not replaced ie Millwall & Brentford. A Millwall fan on the radio made a good point. He said that in the winter, you manage a football team, in the summer you manage the Club. It seems in the summer all the deals are laid out for the coming transfer season. that is where the top managers make the decisions in the boardroom. That's probably why Martin Alan left Brentford 2 years ago. He saw the transfers coming up and the team he would have left to start the new season with. Two manager later we are struggling in the bottom division. Where the money went for the 5+ players that now play in the Premiership has gone, I couldn't tell you. Oh yes, Brentford is owned by the fans. We are looking for a rich local to help out. Greg Dyke is a director, but has not put his hand in his pocket, or likely to.

A Welsh Leeds, it don't bear thinking about !
-
Did I say there was any shame involved ? Did I say their run will never end ? Do I need a No wonder the Welsh are so popular !

Leeds lost their first game to top team Carlisle today, but it's only a hiccup I suspect. Lets see where they are on Valentines day, that's about the time positions start to form for the season end.

The remark about the Thais living in the U.k. teaching in LOS, was flippant, it was having a 'pop' at another thread. I agree my GF may pass on a few mis-pronounciations, but surely a basic grasp of the English language, as spoken by the BG's in Pattaya is better than none ? These kids will not be running a Multi National Company.

Don't panick Alan, He was an Anglo- Kiwi. I am sure a Scot would have know it. He will be driving a 1902 Benz from London to Brighton next month. Gives you some idea of his background.
-
Ah well, in thee generations, there will be enough Thais living in the U.K, speaking both languages fluently, that the shortage of English teachers will disappear I still think someone like my GF, who spends 6 months a year speaking English over here, could do a great deal of good in her little village school. But she doesn't have the qualifications to teach. This qualification lark is a load of old bollocks. While in Kelso last month, I joined the owner of our B&B in the pub quiz. He had a University education, masters in maths etc, but had to apologize at least three times when he overruled my answers on history, sport and general knowledge. It was me who could convert 63.5 kg into 10stone in my head. Even when giving the wrong answer, he was so sure he was right, we were convinced he must be right too. Ah well, I feel better now.

By the looks of things, even if they stay in Div' 1, they won't be visiting Griffin Park next year ! Shame, I would like to have seen that.

I was surprised to find that Ben was from Sarfend.

Try and become a Board Member. There is an Expat section for those who have done what you want to do. I have to say in advance, it is the opinion of many, ( me included ) that to make a small fortune in Thailand, you have to start with a large one. Good Luck.

Shucks- youre embarassing us. If you are on your way to LOS soon, the journey begins here. Then when you get back home, it sort of keeps it alive too. Do have your say in the members forum, just no talk about religion, sport, or politics.

Where ever he lives, with three bottles of vodka in him, he will keep for some time. Keep feeling his pulse.

I think Viagra shapes, would be more appropriate.

Organic Garlic, is often browner, has different sized cloves and doesn't keep as well as the other stuff. I have tried to convince Si that when Herbet my dog takes a dump near her chillies in the garden, that it makes them organically fed, she isn't convinced.

You know what ? Going back 35 years, don't really give your argument a lot of clout.
