Building A Better Pattaya Beer Garden
BKKsaint replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I made it a point to stop by when I was in town recently - I had a really great meal - just a Singha light and your pork KaPow stir fry (with rice) - perhaps the best Thai meal I had while on vacation :) Nice job on how the place turned out. -Khun BKKsaint -

SkyGod Is Still Taking Hammer's Cherry !
BKKsaint replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Adam- Don't be surprised if your place becomes "Cherry A-Go-Go" on Wednesday nights! -BKKsaint -
She gets shown the door, I'm afraid. There's really NO POINT in having a girl who doesn't BF at your place. -BKKsaint

Dynasty Inn Grande Soi 6 BKK
BKKsaint replied to PlanetWave's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I'm thinking about booking a room for my stay as well. Locationwise, it's perfect. Sorry to hear that they frown upon Eden 3 ways. I have heard that the rooms are nice, but from looking at photos, they look a little plain and outdated. -BKKsaint -

How often is Patts above 35 degrees Celsius??
BKKsaint replied to too_mutt's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
here's an excellent site: http://www.travelfish.org/weather_fish.php You can see that the months with the coolest temps and least rainfall are the busiest ones for tourism. -BKKsaint -
another great idea: How about a high-end, lavishly decorated, (non starfish) stunners-only ST room? I'm surprised that there already isn't a place in Pattaya like this. Oh yeah- you said it's only 5x5, huh? High end ST chair? Or maybe you could just cater to short falangs. -BKKsaint

I read somewhere that it doesn't matter- ALL the custom tailoring done in Pattaya is all from the same place! All the various shops send the orders to the same factory to be made. I did have a good experience with CLIFF Tailors- near walking street on Beach Rd. It's down the smallish alley right next to the Starbucks (towards walking st.). They offered a fair price, GREAT quality, and fast fast fast service- only about 3 days. Be sure, however, to make sure you're communicating well with the tailor. Make sure they have you come in for a few test fittings. Finally, make sure you

Ranking: top restaurants - Pattaya
BKKsaint replied to jimmynewrider's topic in Restaurants and food
Wow- so many pressing questions! Let me see... The FUJI menu goes on for pages and pages- it can be difficult to decide exactly what you want. Try the Thai-style sashimi salad- kind of different than Japanese versions that you get in the States. A little pricey compared to other places in LOS, but still a bargain compared to Japanese restaurant prices back home. I had a lavish sushi/sashimi lunch, with beverage and dessert, and the bill was under $20 usd. You simply cannot find deals like these back home, I'm afraid. The M&K place is a typical hot pot place- you select what in -
Ranking: top restaurants - Pattaya

I'm gonna have to agree with my Bro Grimm- Pattaya food has a lot to be desired. While there in March, I went to a few supposedly "high end" dining places in Pattaya with a few Thai friends who came down for a visit from BKK. I noticed it tasted no better than the small hole-in-the-wall places (which can be found ALL over Pattaya), but the portions were about 1/2 the size, and the check for the meal was double! I say keep it simple when in Pattaya. I can strongly recommend the FUJI japanese restaurant chain (Big C has a nice one)- the menu can be a bit overwhelming though. I als -
Fantasic pics, Adam... even if they're a little late! Thanks again for a great night- I'd have NO reservations about hosting another party at the world-famous Cherry Bar. I'll post a few pics of the party when I get the chance. What kind of camera are you using Adam? I look really skinny in the pics for some reason! lol Chok Dee, -BKKsaint

Hmmmmm... I really don't see any point in Lap Dances. That's about all we can get here in the USA (as far as legit gentleman's clubs). We ALL know that a lap-dance is a lousy investment! $20 only gets you a severe case of Blue-Balls! Now- WHAT would be the point of getting a lap dance from a girl who you'll probably end up shagging in a bit? What I've done to sort of "test the waters" at a beer bar or a-go-go is the old rub and grind from behind. If she starts kissing your neck, or sneaking her hand to your growing bulge, then I think she's a go. -BKKsaint

Yes- agreed that Pun 2 is a safe bet for a BF. I think that midlifecrisis is right on the pronunciation though- I swear that she said "Bun 2" every time I asked what her name was! Pun? Bun? lol... -BKKsaint

Hey- you picked a winner! She's a real sweetie- I had the pleasure of meeting her at a Cherry bar party I was co-hosting. A real charming girl- zero attitude, and genuinely friendly. -BKKsaint

airport service charge
BKKsaint replied to stephentaylor's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I saw NO booths and NO mention of paying a departure tax... I think the Thai government is charging you when you purchase your ticket (like other countries do). It was rather weird to have to stop by the little booth before entering the Customs area for departure. -BKKsaint -
24 hour bus from BKK Airport to Pattaya???
BKKsaint replied to ottoparts's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I'm not sure if there are any direct buses that run from the new airport to Pattaya- at least none that run 24hrs. You could probably catch a bus from the airport to the Ekkamai bus station- and from there, it's a 3-4 hour run to Pattaya. The last bus is at 11:00pm though. -BKKsaint -
EXTRA MONEY EXCHANGE AT NEW AIRPORT
BKKsaint replied to JOKER's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I saw many exchange places near the luggage pick up area- wait was only 2-3 minutes. I've heard that the rates you get here are not as good as the places in town. Just exchange enough for a cab ride and maybe something to eat. -BKKsaint -
I think you need to be more precise in telling them WHERE along Sukhumvit you want to go to. Sukhumvit runs all the way from BKK to Pattaya... a big stretch of the BTS line in BKK runs along Sukhumvit. Asoke for Soi Cowboy, and Nana for NEP. -BKKsaint

Walk into ANY beer bar, sit down, and tell them that you're hungry and want something to eat. They'll walk across the street and bring it to you. They'll know which local hole-in-the-wall place has the best Pad Thai, Tom Yum, etc... -BKKsaint

Have you tried the Thai-Thai place just outside the Big C? Good Thai food- many different choices on the menu, descent prices. Best of all, after you eat, you can stroll across the soi to the Sabai Room! -BKKsaint
-
I've eaten at both of these places- I thought BED was very overpriced for what you get. Besides- it's more of a nightclub than a restaurant. Le Banyan did a good job at getting Thai-French right. Again- the prices here will come as a shock. You can easliy spend what a couple of days food bills would be on one meal alone here. My pick for an elegant/delicious meal would be Sirocco atop State Tower. Very good Mediterranean-Thai food, but the real deal here is the great views of Bangkok. Get off at the Saphan Taksin BTS, hop in a cab, and tell the driver Sirocco at State Tower.

street food carts are the cheapest deal in town, but be careful about what you order- stay away from meat dishes. I often saw raw beef, chicken and pork just sitting out- no ice, no refrigeration whatsoever. I think it's a little safer to eat at the small Thai restarants- not as good a deal as the street carts- but more variety. You can still have a meal for what a drink alone would cost back at home. If you really to do it cheap, head to the beach on Soi 20 - you can turn over rocks and find clams, small crabs, and other sea beasties. BBQ them up, and you've got yourself a free

Taxi from airport late (1 AM)
BKKsaint replied to redrocket's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Mr. Toom is the way to go- No problem whatever hour you need to be picked up. 1200 baht from BKK to Pattaya - 1000 baht for Pattaya to BKK. Driver is courteous, car is clean and newer model, all tolls included in price. I wouldn't think twice about booking his car service again in the future. -BKKsaint
