  1. Many years ago I stayed at the old welcome Inn. No room safes so I kept my passport cash and ticket in the office safe like everybody else did. Night before leaving to catch the plane I made sure the manager that there would be someone around to open the safe and get my stuff out. Absolutely. 3 a.m. in the morning I'm showered and dressed head down to the reception and ask about getting my stuff. Blank stare. Taxis still an hour away take me to the airport. I thought I was where very well prepared. For the next 2 hours they chased the safe person all over Pattaya way can everybody up trying to
  2. I had a benign prostate growth and had the TURP April 2017 (I'm 60 now). Unfortunately it was bundled up with a few other serious medical issues over a 4 month period which saw me in and out of hospital for a few major operations. The other issues were not related, they just all fed into each other to delay surgery on one thing while I was having surgery and recovery for another thing. By June 2017 I noticed my piss stream was (and is) better than it had been in years, but I also had an unrelated bladder issue as on of my other medical issues which got fixed separately. EDIT Also my abil
  3. I would vote for advertisements. We are all use to ads on sites as a means to cover costs for sites we want to look at for free. Or a business(s) like Pattaya Beer Garden that wanted to support the forum financially for the business it would generate. I think there would be scope for interesting advertising possibilities... More youtube clips from PT supporting businesses that were clearly adverting and acknowledged as such. Merchandise/competitions/freebies from PT supporting businesses (run BY those businesses, not taking up the time of PT admin) Naming rights for one of the
  4. I have usually shied away from those restaurants in Pattaya offering the 'cook at the table' experience' as they seemed to mainly consist of boiling up chopped veggies. This looks lovely though and I love pork! I'm looking forward to EP's review of the dishes.
  5. Try Dancewatchers: http://www.dancewatchers.com/ They have rentals at view Talay2. I booked a room for 8 nights at view Talay 6 through them... they were fine to deal with (I wanted to gauge a long term condo rental for the future as opposed to a hotel). Be warned though, long term rentals (?? 1 month, 3 months, 6 months ?? you don't specify) need to be booked well in ADVANCE as your time line will be eaten up with other shorter bookings, especially the good value 'specials' that may be advertised at good rates. Good luck!
  6. A man went into an urologist and told him he was having a problem, as he was unable to get his manhood erect. The doctor checked him out then told him that the muscles around the base of the organ were damaged from a previous viral infection and there was nothing he could actually do for him. However, he knew of an experimental treatment that might work, if he is willing to take the risk. The treatment consisted of planting muscle tissues from an elephant’s trunk into his 'old fella'. The man thought about it for a while. The thought of having to go through life without sex
  7. OP, I have never bought or owned property in Thailand, so take the following with a grain of salt: I am currently renting a condo for 2 weeks at View Talay 6, been here for 4 days now. (All my other trips I have simply used hotels.) The floor I'm on seems deserted (there would have to be 50 apartments on each floor, but I haven't counted). I have only seen 2 apartments in use (both dudes were leaving their doors open all the time to catch the breeze and save on AC I guess, both seem to have gone now). I don't hear farang voices and thai girls laughter in the corridor at all, at a
  8. Kev, have you travelled yet? If so, what was your experience with them? They get some very negative press: http://www.smh.com.au/business/consumer-affairs/budget-airfare-website-bestjet-accused-of-misleading-customers-20160622-gpp6n5.html http://www.productreview.com.au/p/bestjet-com.html
  9. Just booked and paid for a Thai airways return flight Mel BKK 22 April-9May at $745. They are adverting specials: http://www.thaiairways.com/en_AU/plan_my_trip/Special_fare/Offers_Booking/NYSaleTH.page? Very difficult (well, I couldn't find them!) to locate the day/flight times of the lowest mentioned fares (and I visited a travel agent who looked up various date/times and there is very limited seats reserved at the low prices (ie 1 - 3), but plenty of seats at the higher prices). Yay for me!
  10. Years ago I bought a pirate copy of Photoshop in Tukcom. I went back to the hotel room to load in on my laptop but the promised text file with the registration numbers was not on the CD. Back to the shop and after a short wait while he disappeared (downloading more crap I guess) and I get another disc. Back to the room and the registration numbers were there so I started to install the program, but the virus checker went mental with the range of viruses on the disc... Project abandoned.
  11. The best point and shoot is the one that slips easily into your pocket and is always with you. Don't get bogged down with the longest telephoto too much, your best pics will be you moving in closer to your subject. If you are basically shooting auto and have no interest in finding out a little about perspective, composition, lighting etc, then a $200 compact will take the same pic as a $1000 compact. Not trying to sound snooty about photography, but if you just take a snap of a scene, most cameras will have the same result, regardless of what features they have. It is the pers
  12. aarrrr... I am in the open section. Thanks for the reminder! (You all missed out on a great pic of a granny smith up the wazooo...)
