http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.ph...c=12913&hl= Here is a link to a past post on Uncle Charlies. Ive not popped in for a couple of years, but still see Ratlana when I walk past.

Tom, thats probably correct, I am happy with £476 so I do not care what price they go for now. You know what its like if we were worried a better deal was around the corner we would never book.

Royal Jordanian, short transit way out, 7 hour way back, but they give you a free hotel room @ queen alia airport hotel for the duration. Booked through flight supermarket 20 mins after booking same flight with Southall travel appeared on the same site for £466.

16th dec 4.25pm/2.25pm 31st dec 11.15pm/ 2.45pm £476 inc tax Royal Jordanian. Read some favourable and some not so good reviews but Ive taken the plunge and booked. Around £70/80 cheaper than Kuwait and also shorter travelling time. Could have waited and probably got emiates etihad, etc for £620 or so for a similar travelling time. Now where do I stay in Pattaya ?

Thank you Tom, thats great advice regarding the probable jump in taxation/charges. Lost in Amsterdam the 333 days prior to 4st jan 2009 was around 6th feb.

Airfaresbasement.com are coming up with some good fares BA/KLM to Amsterdam then China air to Bangkok. I would have booked but can not see that they are ABTA,IATA, etc registered.

Looking to book London/Bangkok early for next Christmas. Dates outbound anytime between 11th dec / 16th dec inbound anytime between 31st dec / 4th jan After a quick look cheapest with Ebookers were £504 Kuwait or £577 China . Opodo had Oman £513 . Last 4 or 5 times Ive flown Eva or Thai but if a non direct flight saves me £250 I`ll take it.

http://www.pattayai.com/review-food-fatties.php I tend to try to stick to the local food, but have ventured into Fatties and it is good food.

cenn3, no need for it to be cheap, just good and thai. I also prefer the independant run places rather than the "chain " restaurants you find in the BIGC. Thanks Cheshire Tom, Ive seen that on the website and will no doubt eat there often. Any more ideas ?
-
Could anybody recommend any thai food restaurants around soi 2 area or a soi or two either way. Will be staying in sabai lodge. Cheers.
-
Stayed there last year, nice big room on top floor. Joiner fee was being charged. Basic buffet breakfast, free shuttle bus was not always available. long walk to nana plaza although on same soi. Rooftop pool was OK although a little small. I would stay again if for a night or 2 but would find somewhere closer to suk rd for a longer stay.

Neil, although I have not been to Birmingham for many years, I did have a chicken rogan @ Bina tandoori in Reading last Saturday. It was not far off the rogan served at Neeroys. Each to their own I suppose, but neeroys do make it the way I like it, so its just as well that I do not ever need to visit Birmingham if your opinion is accurate. All the best, Ranger.

I agree with sinbinjack, You can get a great British style curry at Neeroys .

Stayed in the cock & bull across the road from Storm hotel last june. The guy that runs Storm hotel it is a complete tosser blaring music up and down the street untill 4:30am. Was forced to leave C & B after a few nights due to the noise from across the street. It was a shame since the cock and bull is a good place .

Pauly77 Is the BJ lodge breakfast buffet style or of the menu ? Do they mind if you are not staying there ? Cheers.

Thinking of staying @ the Sabai Inn on my next trip. Anyone have recent experience of this hotel ? Any advice or tips on it or the surrounding bars and restaurants and I would be grateful.. Thank you.

Valentinoxxx, ive found cathay pacific for £538 through travelbag which I think is good for the given dates, could you please tell me other offers you`ve seen in the £550 region. Taltos, ive signed up with westeast for the email alert, but nothing for the last 6 months or so has been sent out, just applied again and had a message already registered, so I do not think ive missed anything from them. I have found in past years that by going on christmas eve the flights can be a lot less than other dates around that period, since some people do not want to be traveling on christmas day
-
I know this is peak period but I would be grateful if anyone could post any good deals around these dates. Thanx.

bazz, the airlines that are absorbing the cost are for those tickets bought before 6th dec, all tickets bought after for departure 1st feb onward would have paid the extra £20 tax . So there is nothing unusual for feb 1st onward tickets being £20 more.

Mr Teflon & Mr Tax (blair & brown) increase APD making out it is to deter everyone flying although their goverment is pushing for the expansion of standstead and heathrow. It will bring in £1billon a year, they have refused to put this into "green issues" and said it will go into central coffers. It is clearly yet another increase in a stealth tax. You could not make it up.
-
Its APD (air paasenger duty) All passengers will pay it in the future but it is only for the British outbound flight you do not pay it for the inbound part of a return flight. B A have absorbed the extra duty for passengers who booked their flights before dec 6th when I think the ruling was made and who fly out on or after feb 1st 2007. This is costing them £11m although it clearly states (4a3) in their T&C that they could have passed the extra tax on to the flying public. For once BA should be congratulated for this stance. Some airlines e.g Ryanair have taken the monies

If your after a all you can eat buffet style breakfast I think the Diana inn is a good choice. The dining area is air con and the eggs are cooked to order, unlike similar hotels (apex, lek) that offer a buffet style breakfast. If you are after a English breakfast the Pig & Whistle is superb especially now there is a non smoking area.
