In tandem with the "sue happy legislative mentality" that exists in USA(sorry guys), no wonder that this type of shit occurs. .Compensation culture is sure to play a part here, as earlier described !... but I think an open First Class Round the World Ticket for a family of four might be pushing it a bit !! IMHO you are taking precisely the correct action playing them at their own game, within the parameters of their own mindset and agenda(that allowed this crap to happen in the first place), to get what redress you rightly deserve. I just feel sorry for the poor bloody dog, who must have been really confused in what would have been a totally alien environment, and in part made to be a scapegoat ! As for the bitch....... well she should be charged with aggravated abuse of "The Americans with Disabilities Act" and the general abuse of innocent animals...and yes, I agree she will get short shrift, if she should try out any similar shit in LOS.

Hi Thai4me, Welcome to the forum from one newbie to another.I had'nt discovered this forum before coming on my first trip to LOS last January.Now I check it out out nearly every day to see what the latest news is. There is some pretty fascinating stuff to be found especially on Members Trip reports,which can give a first class insight of what Pattaya is all about, not to mention valuable information on accommodation,bars and where all the nicest ladies hang out.Trouble is I've found that Pattaya has just about taken over my life at the moment and like others I just live for the moment I'll be back there.In my case Jan/Feb 2008.

Hi Mandajay,I have a vested interest in this thread as I'm booked in The Residence Garden for a month next January. From what I have been able to ascertain from the hotel reviews(the most recent I could find being November 2006) and some general posts on this board.There is a 24 hour Supermarket directly opposite and there is also a laundry which is very reasonable.Dunno about any restaurants other than the Captain's Table on site,but I'm sure there are other BMs that can give some more up to date information.It would also be good if anyone can give any info on landmarks as to when to ring the bell on the baht bus(particularly at night)so as not to go careering by R.G

The only time I have had a full economy ticket is when on corporate business and the company is paying, but for a long time now a lot of companies have been tightening their purse strings regarding the high price of a fully flexible economy ticket. OK, but what person in their right mind would pay the price for a full economy ticket ? Methinks nowadays it could be considered almost to be something of an "abstract" item.Yes I know shit happens ,and life can throw up circumstances that make changes unavoidable;However I would imagine that the vast majority of peoples trips to LOS are carefully planned,with their travel dates,hotel reservations and precious time off from work etc etc just about written in stone...mine certainly are, and with all that in mind I reckon the obvious thing to do is to go for the best value air fare

OK JJ fair point... I just consider Y class to be an "economy" fare and unfortunately that link is now not showing that particular fare(£458.66) but I'm sure all are aware of the dynamic nature of these online "bucket shops" and subsequent ever changing offers but the fare I quoted at the time of posting was displayed and available

Hi Marleyboy, Yes I concur.I have a ticket booked with Eva Air for 23rd January 2008 LHR-BKK-LHR and I was quite surprised to see the aircraft listed as a 747-400.I had pushed the boat out a little this time though and had opted to try the "enhanced economy" option.However from the comments I read on this board vis a vis enhanced economy 777 versus 747 on EvaAir it would appear that the 747 option is the better of the two The West East fare at £454 seems to be reasonable but understand no airmiles and perhaps by now you have gone for it.It may be worth waiting a few weeks to confirm whether or not Eva are using 747's or 777's and if the latter,from what I have found through looking at E Bookers,Flightline etc you still should be able to get a Y class ticket with Eva for around £450 including the associated airmiles.
