Has the girl in the above photo been just a little absent minded and forgotten to put something on? I have been staring intently at the screen turning the monitor this way and that, developing a bit of a squint, but I am still none the wiser. If this is the standard kit of the girls who are 'on duty', rather than just being promotional pictures, then I may just venture down although I will need to bring along my sat-nav as this bar is way east of second road.

Those sprays smell awful and are full of toxins. I have heard about plug in devices which send out noise, rays or vibrations (imperceptible to humans) which make insects lives so intolerable that they stay away. Does anyone know if these things work and how effective they are if they do? Would be more pleasant to use than sprays although the problems is that with rooms where the electricity switches off when you take the room key out of the holder, the device will stop working whilst you are out.

Pattaya Beer Garden - lookin' or chillin'
Sybarite replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I just don't get it. Almost every single girl in the PBG will be looking and most men would be looking as well. This is Pattaya FFS! So why the need for beer mats? The reason why the guys and the girls are not getting together is because the girls are too shy to approach the guys and the guys are too shy/lazy to approach the girls or don't find them attractive enough to warrant an approach. These tactics have not been needed in similar bars like the Bangkok beer garden and Gullivers for them to be successful. The problem is that with the PBG the size of the bar and the lighting does not always make it easy for the guys to see what the girls look like from where they are sitting or whether they are interested e.g. if the girl is giving them the 'come on' There is no need for the use of beer mats which the punters may not be able to see unless they walk around checking them on each girls tables. What is needed is for an area of the bar to be designated as an area for girls and guys who are interested in meeting each other. With a smaller area set aside for those who don't want to be approached. This is similar to what happens in the BBG where the girls are not allowed to sit at the central bar seats unless they are invited to by a guy - so guys know that if they sit there enjoying a quiet pint and watching the TV screens then they can do so without some girl sitting beside them trying to chat them up. I can also see situations where a guy will go up to girl who he fancies only for her to turn the beer mat over as soon as he gets to her table because she is not interested in him. A clear and embarrasing rejection for all around to see. -
Increased Hotel prices for high season ?
Sybarite replied to Daveuk's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
A trivial point but the price has gone up from 1000 to 1200 baht. That is a 20% increase - not a 25% increase. Also, when was the last time they had a price increase. If it was something like 5 years ago then a 20% increase is understandable to some degree. I don't think they are increasing their prices by 20 or 25% EVERY year. That's exactly what I said about 7 posts earlier. I'm glad you agree with me -
Increased Hotel prices for high season ?
Sybarite replied to Daveuk's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Every hotel has to raise their rates some time. Costs rise every year and they wait a few years and then increase the rate in one chunk rather than gradual increases every year. If demand ifor rooms is falling or expected to fall you would expect hotels to lower their rates. However the Thai way is to increase rather than decrease the rates in an attempt to keep the same level of revenue as in the past. Of course this just leads to even less demand. -
Nope, my voyage doesn't begin until Sunday 24th. Maybe catch up in Pattaya for a beer or two???

Deciding not to stay at a hotel because people of a particular race are known to frequent that hotel is totally reprehensible and wholly inexcusable. -
Pattaya Beer Garden Update – 8 August 2008
Sybarite replied to PattayaPete's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I disagree. The bar on which the PBG is based, the Beer Garden in Bangkok, attracts dozens of freelancers throughout the day. There is no reason why PBG cannot do the same thing given time. Freelancers are not legally allowed to loiter on Beach road and the authorities would dearly like to stop them from doing this. The clearing of the trees along the road may be one tactic that the authorities are employing and in the evening the police often patrol Beach road moving any girls on that they find there. In Bangkok the freelancers like to sit in comfort in the Beer Garden making eyes at the many mongers rather than stand all day in the baking sun. Despite the fact that there are many seats along Beach road I am sure that many of these freelancers would love to get out of the sun - provided it is to a place where there are going to be many punters around. If PBG was the sort of place which guys would love to visit for a drink or a meal during the day even if there were no freelancers there then this would solve the problem - because where there are many guys then the freelancers are sure to follow. It's a chicken and egg situation. However, I can see a load of guys sitting in a bar if there were no freelancers e.g. ex-pats meeting up for a chat however I can't see the reverse situation happening. The Bangkok Beer Garden is thriving even though it has no short time rooms, so the lack of them at PBG is probably not a major factor in why the bar is not attracting freelancers. -

Whats Septemeber Like in Pattaya??
Sybarite replied to jogsuk's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
To be fair to joekicker his post did provide some useful information i.e. 1) There is "30 to 60 minutes of rain about 3 or 4 days out of five, usually around late afternoon" which I think is a fair indication of what sort of weather to expect - and the wet weather is a very important consideration when deciding whether to visit in September. 2) "it's the harvest month and pretty well all the girls leave and go back to help the family". Again this provides useful information as I didn't realise myself that this was the harvest month. I can see that many girls could decide to go back home for this reason. But to be honest there are various times during the year e.g. after Songkran in mid April or after May when the American sailors leave or during some other religious festivals like the one in July where many girls are traditionally supposed to head home. However I have been to Pattaya in different months during the year and there does not seem to be any appreciably significant difference in the number of girls from month to month unless you are comparing a high season month to a low season month. In a low season month if there are less girls then there are also less guys so there should still be plenty of girls to go around. The girls come and go depending on how many guys are expected to be in town but there always seem to be more girls than guys. Joe's comment that "it's almost impossible to get laid" must have been said tongue-in-cheek or just a bit of cynical hyperbole maybe to emphasize the fact that many girls do traditionally leave for home during this month. But there is no mass exodus leaving a total vacuum. Most people can reason - even those who have not gone before - that whatever time you go, as long as you have a few hundred baht in your pocket and are not too choosy, then it should be impossible not to get laid in the biggest red light district in the world . -

Whats Septemeber Like in Pattaya??
Sybarite replied to jogsuk's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I have been twice in September and there are the same number of girls as there are in any of the low season months. So I just don't understand the 'it's almost impossible to get laid' comment unless the poster has difficulty in getting laid whatever month he goes to Pattaya. It is the height of the rainy season and that can be a big problem. It buckets down with rain and you can be soaked to the skin within a few seconds of leaving your hotel. Often the rain kicks in at night - just as you are about to go out - and the downpours are both heavy and may last for most of the night. Then same again the next night. It's no fun sitting in an ice cold air conditioned go go bar when you are soaking wet and you are less inclined to move from bar to bar. -
A prison cell or wide open spaces
Sybarite replied to marcortez's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
If you are booking into Galaxy Suites above Heaven's Above go go bar in Soi Diamond then I would not recommend that you bring along the family cat...because if you go into the bathroom there is not enough room to swing one. The bathroom consists of a 3 foot square room with a shower head suspended directly above the toilet seat. Try as hard as you can whilst having a shower you will not be able to avoid completely soaking the toilet. -
Don't care too much for Coyotee girl. They wear plenty of ink and their attitude kinda stink.

BabyDolls Grand Opening Party
Sybarite replied to sinkorswim's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
It takes a bit of guts to make an investment in a Pattaya go go bar given the current situation where few bars are making much money and where there are some major challenges that the Pattaya P4P scene is facing. Poor baht exchange rate particularly for the dollar Flight prices to Thailand, already at very high levels, which are set to rise significantly over the coming months as the airlines seek to pass on recent rises in flight taxes and the oil price (which has more than doubled in the last three years alone and is set to continue the trend) A (s)low season which now lasts for 10 months of the year rather than a few months A strong Thai economy which means that less girls need to come into the business in order to make money and if they do then they want more money for doing so. Steady increase of Russians (up 50% on last year) and other non sex tourists which makes Pattaya less dependent on the P4P scene and strengthens the hand of those who want to see the back of the scene Last (but not least), a new major elected only a few weeks ago who has made it his number one commitment to rid Pattaya of the P4P scene in Walking Street within a few years. -
THE WINDMILL CLUB SOI DIAMOND
Sybarite replied to dh359's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I was sitting beside one Windmill bar girl whilst she unfolded and counted out the little slips of paper that she got for each lady drink. She counted out 20 and told me that this represented 1000 baht as she got 50 baht for each lady drink. I was not all that surprised as Windmill is home to the bar girl who is most likely to say: 'Thank you for dink. I go dance now' 90 seconds after you have bought her a drink (because that is the maximum time that it takes for her to throw it down her throat and let out a satisfied sigh). The next time you see her she will be doing the same to another customer.
