  1. Another great tip Evil. It's all going on the to-do list. Thanks. Andy
  2. That looks great for the price - a room with pool for 600 baht. Who needs a balcony if you have a pool? Thanks for the tip. Andy Cap
  3. Will give a try Steve, it's right to give it a plug as I certainly wouldn't have stumbled upon it. Copied it into a BlocNotes on my laptop. Andy
  4. This one is seriously doing it for me. STUNNER! Prawns AND squid, fluorescent pink soup and a crunchy thingy - basil and coriander lurking underneath????. Yeh baaaby. Ah lahk ma scran me. Bring it on. Andy
  5. Corrrrr! The bahtbus from LK Metro and back is going to have my bum dent permanently etched.... Women are great but, in the long run, you have to prefer food (no backchat - no I take that back.... rather loud backchat... but you know what I mean). Won't forget the sauce steamer. Educative Evil....Positive 1 Penevil. Ta! Andy Cap P.S. Are those skewers or lemon grass in the big pan? P.P.S. +1 to anyone who posts a vid of a chorus of "Kalinka" - as long as there's shots of food in the vid.
  6. Real 'B' movie stuff - atmospheric indeed. Something about all that neon with no colour that's weird though.... Thanks for letting us have a look. Andy
  7. Here's a post by Greg from PA - I'm still none the wiser but I'm happy he's still there..... Posted 02 April 2012 - 05:15 PM Thank goodness the worst of the jackhammering is over. Should be finished by the end of the month (I bloody hope so) and it is going to be a gogo with an open area in front. Owned by the same lady owner as Iron Bar I believe. Cheers to all and thanks for sticking in there. Greg & Kung By the way we have a new band on Thurs nights and Sundays from 4 to try and give them a bit of noise back. I suppose there'll be no early nights then. Difficult to sleep with a gogo in full swing just next door (e.g. Secrets Hotel). Is that the Traveller's Rest that has been converted into a Gogo? AC
  8. Any chance of a pic of Nam Tok Moo (MM or jacko)? I'm at work during lunchtime and skipping it...... why is it called that (maybe I'll google it). Oops, scratch that! MM's photo on page one is nam dhtok moo - waterfall pork. Brain on idle.... Andy
  9. Yes, I have searched "BM colour codes" and "board member colour codes" - yes I put a 'u' in colour..... and it's not in the FAQ. So what are they - funny answers allowed and then MM can tell us in a few days time??? Green seems to be "business owners" (which isn't funny in itself but can be very funny if you know one or two of them oxy and moron spring to mind in the same instant) . Andy Cap P.S. BOSH! 1,999th post (ah! 2,000 - helps if you post the same thread twice....
  10. You could PM BM gregj69. Last thing I knew he was the owner. Hope he isn't off too soon, I'm planning to stay there..... It's my experience that everything is for sale if the price is right. Andy
  11. One week too early for me Graham but will give it a look when I get there - plenty of Euro 2012 matches to get the place going. You going to be "overseeing"? Wish you the best with it... Andy
  12. Edit not working "I suppose that doesn't work if you eat them all and THEN says they were no good."
  13. Wow! Delegating works!? Big thumbs up there - wouldn't happen in France.... Andy
  14. :clap1 (will look up Scotch Woodcock, ah, scrambled egg and anchovies on toast). Did you mean Spotted Dick, Jacko? Ah no, Spotted Dog, Irish fruit bread - you don't 'arf learn stuff on 'ere. Oh yes I will try China Garden on coming trip - on topic. Andy
  15. That place on the NE corner of the Tjunction is always packed. How much do you pay there timorno? Andy
  16. Nice tasty healthy option there MM - high in monounsaturated fat is avocado (as is this ham I've just read....) so high in HDL and low in LDL. Just one more lesson to give and then ham-mer time at home (no lunch and spent all day translating restaurant menus - torture). Cheers Andy
  17. What's for dinner Martin? I just bought some Jamon Iberico Bellota (ham) over the net 70€ a kilo delivered to my office today (I got a boneless back leg = 5kg packed in 9 vacuum packs) - black foot pigs live in the forest and eat only acorns, Never tasted ANYTHING like it in my life www.jamondetrujillo.com Hell you only live once. Wehey! Andy Cap P.S. More street food please so I can afford this ham!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jam%C3%B3n
  18. Ah yes, big oops there. Didn't think that through at all, but parry worked it out right... US state capitals are never where you think they are, that's the golden rule isn't it? Sorry
  19. Excellent excellent stuff Evil - just what I'm looking for. That noodle soup is just right for a hangover I find..... it's all going on the list. Thanks a lot. The only 2 times I have ever been sick from food/water in Thailand was at The Waterfront marina in Phuket (iced water was "off") and in Pattaya at a certain eatery named after the capital of Louisiana, never from a street stall or hole in the wall......(no, that's NOT a cue to highjack the thread with stories of dysentery/eye of a needle etc.!!!!) Any more ideas welcome of course...... 2 x 3 weeks to fill after all! Bon appetit Andy P.S. Yesterday I had double fish and chips - good cod....(one cod portion wasn't enough so told my froggy cheffy friend to add "double fish and chips" on his blackboard. Two minutes two French blokes came in and ordered it ) Problem was Flo and I drank a litre and a half of white wine. It wasn't pretty this morning
  20. Morning here in France and just checked in to add to my list of food destinations. Many thanks jacko and mark for your suggestions. I really do like to go where someone has said "it's good". Big thanks to Evil for those magnificent pics and insight - on soi 15 the seafood stand always worried me due to paying by weight, it's a well known 'problem' here in France (not a scam just buyer beware). I take it he tells you how much before cooking it - will give it a try. Glad to know he does a good job of the cooking too. Must also try staying up until 3 along the night market on Tai (normally tucked up cozy by then.....). We've always been there too early and nobody is sitting down so you can't tell what's on offer. If I ask the chef I feel I have to try it whatever it is. At 3 I suppose you can ask one of the girls "what's that you're eating, it looks good, how much is it (the food)" - and as you say "make contact". Thanks all round once again - any more for any more? Andy Cap P.S. One of our French cheffy friends has just added "Fish & Chips" to his menu (unheard of in the whole of France as far as I can tell) so might give that a go this lunchtime.
  21. I dread to think Jacko, but there's only one that springs to mind...... (it's the first time I've felt sorry for a journalist.... er, well, all concerned really).
  22. That all looks pretty good Sue and nus01. I hope they weren't too precise with the measurements on those drinks - did you try the hot coke and was it more expensive? I take it you mean the "hansum" bastard beside you and it was badboy..... It's surely about value for money and a good hearty meal, n'est-ce pas? Will try the above, thanks. Andy
  23. Cor, that's a bit of a stunner MM - nice tight focus....
  24. not exactly outside..... got that timorno, it's not your favourite then...I like the HiTW myself, though not as good/clean as the Thai snack place next to the Ibis on Dachauerstrasse in Munich. Andy
