  1. No, because.... Pattaya is the one of the only places in the world where you would choose another "supplier" for a product or "service" even when you were satisfied the first time with the first "supplier"'s product or "service". It's habit-forming..... Andy Cap
  2. ... when the LDOP offers the buffaloe a potatoe or a tomatoe to eat and his name's Dan Quayle?
  3. Looks like we stayed in EXACTLY the same room in 2012 for our 'one night in a posh place'. I agree the place was just so-so. We could never get used to the Louis de Lebanon furniture. Good review!
  4. Page 4 Position 2 (Facebook page) and Position 8 (website) in France..... this thread could run and run! Do I get two beers?
  5. Still working here in France jacko.... but who knows for how long.....
  6. I recognise that "Safety First" photo!
  7. The green stuff is great Sue! Best to add some yogurt to it and dip in your chicken..... got my mouth watering here in the food wasteland that is France.... I kid you not. You drunk? Shurely shome mishtake! Seriously though - two nights ago Flo and I made Kofta kebabs with some left over (only from the night before) leg of lamb, putting it in the blender with 7 spices then baking = squits next morning. Maybe we hadn't cooked the spice thoroughly enough - a myriad of possible reasons for the squits.... if it helps lose a couple of kilos I'm all for them! Andy Cap
  8. Food I had there at Little India twice this last trip was FAB! I don't think your IMPERATIVE - "AVOID!" in the title is in equal measure to your CAVEAT - "I cannot prove I got it at this restaurant, but it seems likely" lost in the text. Could have been bad draft beer or sour ingested p***y juice that turned your tandoori into dhal ? Give it another go.... and let us know!!! Andy Cap
  9. And here too.... though only German/Swiss style beer (forgot to go there this trip - too much of the "other"). It's Beach Road end of Soi 13/1 - it's called HOF. Andy Cap
  10. The place next to Little India (next to Cherry Bar) in the arcade says Jellied Eels on the window - although we're from the north and don't know what they are, we can understand cravings of the "food from home" variety.
  11. no, same owner. the malee i mention is one third of the way along soi honey on the left, going from buakhao to 2nd. that said, i'll look at this one as it has the "l" word - lobster.
  12. We ate here after the Gentleman's Club crawl Friday 14th August 2015 (as did BM Lantern). The food was excellent although I had a bit of hypo going on and couldn't enjoy it - ate the leftovers next day - yum!. The owner Mejaan had a chat with us. He hasn't had it long which may explain the poor reviews a while ago. We ate there again TODAY at lunchtime - great! Andy Cap
  13. Thanks FBF (great info - I wonder when the "sun in the north" phase begins?) We have now moved to our third hotel where the room is east facing with a balcony so scope for sun-up Sangsom Cokes!!! Wehey! Andy Cap
  14. I may hence call you a nob gsjoe (based on your luck at birth, of which I have no knowledge), but never a knob, dear sir!
  15. That works for going from the UK to India gsjoe http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/port-out-starboard-home.html BUT, it was exactly the logic we were using in choosing a north facing room...... the sun is in the NORTH at Pattaya latitude at this time of the year so POSH doesn't work!
  16. South facing in southern Europe is great in the winter jacko but a drag in the summer if you're not a tourist.
  17. It seems obvious when you think seriously about it but it's easy to make a mistake. South facing in the northern hemisphere you get the sun right? So Pattaya is northern hemisphere so it'll be the same, right? WRONG! Stop thinking "Europe" and move your latitude. A NORTH facing room in Pattaya June to September will get the sun all day, and the aircon will have difficulty keeping it cool, because the sun is somewhere over/near the Tropic of Cancer - at least without looking at Wiki, I think that's the logic. We won't be fooled again. Andy Cap
  18. Back from Steak and Ale Pie and Steak and Kidney Pie and Chips at Frydays!
  19. Thanks all for the above. We are literally reading your stuff deciding where to go to eat RIGHT NOW! Good to hear from some old friends too! Cheers Andy & Flo
  20. Some farangs don't eat Thai food idefix - maybe add "farang" between "budget" and "meals"?
  21. I visited the Penthouse Hotel back in 2008 before Flo's first trip to Pattaya to check it out - it was filthy, visibly filthy. Also I thought that most Thai girls (but not the girls from their gogo Kittens Club) would run a mile before using a swing hanging from the ceiling etc. paraphernalia from another culture..... see above. Just MHO. Not been back. The hotel is "almost" the ST rooms of the gogo.... Each to his/her own of course, but why take a Thai lady out of her comfort zone - soi 6 (mirrored rooms from time to time - but there's always this fat bloke watching me ), Devil's
  22. Thanks tallguy - we will give it a look during week 3 as Soi Lengkee is a great food destination. No problem and a good point made js007.
