  1. Trading would have to be between two individuals and would be transparent between the airlines. For example I have airmiles with Northwest, American and United. United is the program I prefer. If another person has airmiles with two or three of the above but their preferred carrier was either Northwest or American then I would want to do an exchange. I would transfer 15k miles to them (either Northwest or American) and they would transfer 15K miles to my United FF account. Basically this would have to be done with trust, that's why I was hoping that a broker would be involved. You have the United's costs wrong (check their website if you don't believe me). Each transaction cost $35 plus .015 cents a mile. Min 5K-Max 15K miles to be transfered each transaction. The other 2 airlines were only 1 cent a mile plus $25 transaction fee. So if I could find someone that wanted to trade me 15K United miles they would have to pay $260 to transfer the miles from their United account to mine. I would then have to pay $175 to tranfers 15K Northwest miles from my Northwest account to theirs.
  2. Remembering the old saying, "If you want something done, then do it yourself" I decided to call the airlines. What I found out is that its very easy to transfer miles, only drawback is it isn't cheap. I called United, American and Northwest and they wanted between $50 to $75 for each 5,000 miles that is transfered plus a fee for each transaction.
  3. All he needs to do now is designate a left and right side for F/Ls to sit at the bar.
  4. I'm confussed, if someone can sell their miles to another person then why couldn't they trade for those miles? How would the airline know that the miles they are transfering to another where paid for or traded?
  5. Does anyone know if one can trade airmiles of one frequent flyer progam to another individual that has airmiles in another program? If its possible is there a website that would act like a broker for a reasonable fee?
  6. I'm glad you asked because it has reminded me to fire off an email to him to pick me up next week. His fares as of 2 months back were 1000 baht to be picked up at BKK and 900 to be taken to BKK (tolls included). Cheaper going to the airport because there is no additional parking cost or waiting time for the driver.
  7. If your visit was early in the evening then the place doesn't sound to promising. If it was late in the evening, then the top talent could have already been bar fined. I would never rate a place on talent on one late night visit.
  8. That's it, I remembered it when I was out driving to the market. I can't remember if she was good to go for 500 S/T and 1000 L/T.
  9. I never said that you should know where all the bars are. I figured that with all the board traffic regarding this venue that you would know its location. We have 4 boardmembers who have been involved with this bar. First Sunny Valentine opened the place under the name of Lennies about 3 years back. Then a little over a year ago it changed names to Shooters at which time Bruce and Bob (Bobs B B Q) became involved. Also boardmember PSP was the manager there before he moved to Misty's (you know Misty's moved). The last time I was there they had a former FLB hostess working as the mamasam (can't remember her name). You might have even bought her a ladydrink or barfined her. What is funny is that I couldn't remember the name "Sunny Valentine" so I had to do a search on Lennies and I found the topic by Bob making the anouncement of the opening of Shooter's. You posted back in Jun 2007, "Where are you located I'll stop by when I get to town". You've been searching for over a year and Bob had clearly posted the location as on Soi Diamond, so I guess that you don't know where's Soi Diamond. You really need to get out and expand your horizons.
  10. Odd question coming from someone who has been to Pattaya numerous times and has spent as much time on the board as you.
  11. Mine is blue ink and inside a rectangular box, same color as the rest of the visa stamp except the expiration date is red.
  12. Many won't walk in the daytime because they don't want their skin to get dark, also when you BF many BGs are not wearing shoes that are confortable for walking.
  13. Towels not a problem if you have TGF, if your butterflying then one may want to purchase a few extra as many BGs aren't too keen on using a towel already used. Baht buses travel Pattaya Tai, so for 10 baht you could get from the 2nd RD intersection to the Soi Buakaow intersection. Then for another 10 baht jump on a baht bus heading up Soi Buakaow.
  14. Steve, My 12 month permission to stay is stamped "Retirement" nothing about "Non Imm" on it, the multiple re-entry does have "Non Imm" in the stamp. When I got my 1st retirement visa and multiple re-entry permit they shorted me some days as they based the starting date on the date that I entered LOS on the 30 day visit. The following 2 renewals I actually received more than 12 months as I renewed about 4 weeks prior to the expiration date of the old visa. Not like when I renewed my passport 8 months early, the US Embassy started the 10 year clock at the time it was processed. Also on your next trip when your filling out your arrival card and where they ask for visa, use the numbers that are on your multiple re-entry permit.
  15. What about housekeeping? Many places that have monthly rates do not provide this service or cut it back to once a week.
  16. I'm surprised that Mr Mitty didn't steer him down 2nd Rd.
  17. You could be right about it being closer to 100 but it still much closer to the baht bus route than many other hotels in Pattaya. Like I said before, many of the hotels within the bounds of Beach Rd and 2nd Rd where many newbie stay, are further and it faster getting to Walking St than going down Beach Rd. The purpose of my original post on this topic was to suggest to the OP to put the distance on his map (whatever that distance is) because the map that he shows is not to scale. Take a look at the map and you can see that the distance from Beach Rd to 2nd Rd is less than the distance from his place to Soi Buakaow. Do you want to make a friendly wagger about those distances? I say that the distance from Buakaow to his place is shorter. I'm one of the older guys and I have no trouble walking 4 to 5 minutes to catch the baht bus. Especially when you consider that I live in a one year old, 1 bedroom apartment that cost me 400 baht a day including utilities and within a short walk to Carrefour.
  18. Tonka this place is only about 30 meters from the baht bus line. I can think of many hotels that are a greater distance than that from a baht bus route and I've stayed and am currently staying at places that were of greater distance. On top of that from this location if you want to go to Walking St during the evening it is also faster. I live north of Pattaya Klang near the Nova Park and its about a 4 minute walk to Pattayklang and 3rd Rd to catch a baht bus or about a 5 minutes walk to the Soi Buakow/Pattayaklang intersection. When going to Walking St we take the longer walk to Buakaow to catch the baht bus because the last time we caught the baht bus that went down Pattayaklang and then turned left along the beach it took 30 minutes due to traffic (no accident or construction) to reach Walking St. No breeze and breathing alot of fumes from tour busses. I agree that there is great baht bus coverage and have mentioned many times that if you want to save some baht then venture out from the Beach Rd/2nd Rd area. Even if one stays within those boundries, if their hotel is midway between those roads they are walking a greater distance to reach the baht bus route than the 30 meters it is from the Irish Rovers.
  19. Again a post from you that doesn't make any sense. Let me dumb this down for you. The owner posts this topic to draw attention to his business. This is in the open forum so it's read by many who are not familiar with Pattaya. He includes a map that is not to scale so those not familiar with the area would think that his place is a distance to get to much of the action in Pattaya and give it a pass. I post a comment that I think it would be benefical if he included the actual short distance to Soi Buakaow on his map and also state that baht buses run on Buakaow which makes it an excellent location.
  20. What are you ranting about? I know its close but someone that's not familiar with the area would have no clue as the map that's shown is not to scale. Take a look at the distance shown between Beach Rd and 2nd Rd on Soi 11 and then look at the distance shown from his hotel to Soi Buakaow. Also those not familiar with the Soi Buakaow area are not aware of the baht bus routes, when you have some positive features about your location one should stress them. You wouldn't make a very good salesperson or you need to lay of the sauce before you post.
  21. I live in a 1 bedroom with TGF and my total average monthly charges for water and electric for the past year was about 1000 baht a month. I take numerous showers each day and the TGF cooks and does the dishes about twice a day, plus she does about 2 loads of wash every 3 days. Water is 25 baht a unit (don't know how much is a unit) and electric is 6 baht a unit. Some places will charge a little less or more than 6 baht. If you deal directly with the electric company then the charge is only 3.2 baht a unit. The hidden charges that you must consider is housekeeping unless you have a TGF or you don't mind doing it yourself. Even then you need to factor in the cost of toilet paper, the cost of buying cleaning supplies and the added cost of laundry services for your sheets and towels which you might have to purchase if the unit doesn't come with or has insufficient quantity. Also the cost of drinking water if the unit doesn't have a water prufication system installed unless you don't mind drinking tap water.
  22. Like Basil said, those dates in April are the wettest. The good thing is that later in the evening the madness stops, just be prepared by protecting your camera and cell phone from the water. Even when it rains its just a minor inconvience as the weather is warm if not hot. If your still concerned about the rain then book a hotel on Soi 7/8 where you don't have to go far for a BG. Also get a cell phone if you don't already have one, collect BG's cell #s and give them a call if you don't want to get wet. All years are not the same as I don't remember much rain at all in 2002 thru 2004 and the big problem back then was a lack of water. Regarding getting laid. The busiest time in Pattaya is between Xmas and New Years and if you want the lookers you better hit the bars early. Also you'll probably wind up paying a higher barfine while not being able to take the BG out of the bar until later in the night plus she'll being asking for more baht.
  23. Even though many of the hotels don't have published weekly or monthly rates, I never paid the daily rate when I use to stay in a hotel after my first 2 trips to Pattaya. I would check out a hotel that looked good, view the room and if I liked it I would ask the rate. When they quoted me the daily rate I would then ask what they would charge me for a months stay. It was anywhere from 50% to 25% off the daily rate and I would still get daily housekeeping and utilites where included in the price. You need to have the manager on site because the desk person can't offer these rates. I did this back in 2002 until I got a year round place back in Dec 04 so maybe things have changed, but there has been numerous places that have opened since then.
  24. In an excellent location, just a few meters from Hell and Lolitias. Just a couple of comments, why don't you post your weekly and monthly rates and I would show on your map just how close it is to Soi Buakow where one can catch a baht bus that will either take you south to the Walking St area or a northbound bus that will take you up to the Soi 8, Soi6 and Big C area.
