  1. There is nothing like getting to an airport at 8am monday morning for a 930 flight only to find yourself sitting down at the gate by 8:03am (that isnt a misprint. normally it would be 45-60 minutes in line). I might not fly as much as I used to, but the time savings for pre-check is pretty incredible. Add in the 0 hassle returns from out of the usa and it worth the money without a doubt.
  2. IMO The only thing they are useful for is for camera work when shooting bicycling races (stable) and for drunk blokes too far gone to stand up straight much less not fall down at a light. The latter should have someone else take them home. Its just extra parts seeking a problem and some $$$.
  3. Since you said saver, i am assuming united. Do you know how to check for non united flight availability? If not, there is an easy way on the anaskyweb page. Honestly the business class on the asian airlines is pretty much par for first on united. The seat is slightly better in united first as a lie flat, but the food and experience is much better on everything else. All of the award flights will be saver awards and are available to be booked via a call to united.
  4. I've had nothing but good experiences with the Russians and Ukrainians in Patts. Great guys who were just like you and I, wanting to have a beer and shoot the shit about the little chicas in the bars. One cannot lump tens of millions of people into a single bucket, are italians like germans? Are east coast americans like americans from texas? Are colombians like mexicans? It just doesn't work that way. Are there some Brits in Patts right now trying as hard as they can to be total asses? Assuredly so, just like there is an Australian, American, and German guy trying to do the same.
  5. Wow thats a great price. Normally the best is korean at 1250-1300 or so. Of course what I want is business class at $1500 on ANA
  6. I don't know anything about this person or this show, but I hope they present the information in a fairly factual manner without too much hype. It is a very hard life to clean hotel rooms for next to nothing, and Thailand is pretty bad on worker's rights. We all know they are going to present doom and gloom, glossing over the fact that the people who have the worst jobs have "issues" that keep them from getting better jobs, but sometimes they get screwed by circumstance. If someone has to work 80+hrs a week and be away from their family, that is a shame. Then again, if they got in ove
  7. Anyone know if there is a working walking street webcam somewhere? I saw that timeout gelato had one, but I have never seen it operational.
  8. Well above thai spec... Every advertisement to the english speakers talks about how every house/condo/shithole are "up to western standards." Have a reputable inspector check it out, preferably a friend of yours that knows the trade and is in the area on vacation. What we (as non experts) see is a great looking house made very well. What lies behind the drywall might speak another story. It might be amazing, if so and it is well below the cost for the surroundings... Sure. But then again why is the price low? Lots of questions here.
  9. Hopefully this deal comes back after the weekend. Right now vayama is showing 2700 for yyz to bkk. Koreanair.com is showing 1650... Tuesdays are generally best for purchases so I have my fingers crossed.
  10. Talk to your doctor. Mostly it depends on what is stopping you from sleeping. For me, the activity and noise around me keeps my brain running. I tried all of the sleeping pills but no luck. Eventually I found something about xanax being a possibility and bingo. It doesn't make me sleepy at all, it just lets me fade out when I want. Dosing is VERY low for this.
  11. Define "cheap"? Business class means you are probably looking at 3500+.
  12. Yes. 100 bucks for five years. You have to meet with some agents to do an interview at an authorized airport once they accept your background check. Also, if you travel to/from canada you can also get nexus. At one time you could pay 100 for nexus and get goes for free. I don't know if that is still the case or not, but it is highly suggested if so.
  13. Nice! I spent a lot of time looking but couldn't find any decent places, this sounds interesting. The worst I saw was a full on super auto (home) machine with grinder being used for cappuccino. Sounds "ok" right? Not really, because they filled the grinder with instant coffee and used it like that. Oof, that was some rough stuff! Any idea what espresso machine they use at the aforementioned cafe and what level they roast to (city, city+ etc)? I like my beans like I like my women, tan and tasty
  14. I've done both. Mostly hungover and tired, hit the brush with tap while not thinking. Nothing "bad" came from it, BUT this is the key point, it is a bit of a game. For anyone who has been in thailand for a while, you are probably resistant to the "stuff" in the water, but for those on vacation its a risk. Bacteria molds, "dirt" and other "stuff". Mmmm good eatin. Ditch the tap and stick to the pussy.
  15. The worst part of the grinding, besides the time, is the smell. Even with exhaust fans you can't get the smell of burning tooth out of your nose The shots suck as well, because you have to be numbed down for it. Not a big deal, but just be prepared. Oh and bring an ipod, they are going to be in there for a while :)
  16. In the usa you are looking at 1200-2200 per tooth, especially if they are doing any gum re-contouring or other work, so 250 in the uk sounds great. I don't know about the costs in thailand but I'm sure it is cheap. Keep in mind that veneers are not "fast" they have to grind down your teeth then make molds of the stubs. Then they design a porcelain tooth around the original mold, and finally you go back in and they glue it in place. Be ready for another hour or two worth of grinding at this point if it isn't perfect ( it rarely is). This process is not a single day setup, give you and t
  17. And those same dentists you go to in the usa pay 50+ percent of their income in insurance. They then have constant training and other requirements to keep up to date on current studies. The office has to follow codes to keep you and your hygenist from infections, yadda yadda. Not to mention mind numbing forms and procedures for insurance. Yes, definitely more expensive, and probably more expensive than it should be. If you go to thailand and something goes wrong.. then what? Are you covered? Not saying it is likely, but its a numbers game and eventually your number comes up. Simpl
  18. Which would you go for? I've been in PBR and it was nice, but the prices went up. Not to mention that a seaview would also be nice. Ideas? (staying 2 weeks in feb if it matters)
  19. Hah, no, just had bad enough luck in the past with some interesting groups. It seems to always pay to be a bit of a dick right off the bat, then be a bit more forthcoming after. Now that I don't think you are a shill I'll give 'em a call. Depending on who you fly they might not give you your FFMs. Singapore definitely not, korea maybe, but the regular USA carriers should though it will probably just be pure luck. It all depends on the carriers FF plan rules and the ticket fare code.
  20. it took me AT MOST 30 seconds to find a host of different prices using farecompare which can display with taxes and surcharges included. They include FF miles on most flights. So I am still baffled. lets go over specific prices you saw. If you don't want to name them, I'm betting you have some other affiliation with angel travel and we need to move on.
  21. dad: angel travel is just a standard consolidator. There is nothing special (that I can see) about their services. The prices are fairly similar to the prices I am able to procure through a number of other ways. For instance : 695 flight from angel. Add in the fees, taxes etc it comes within 15 dollars of the price for the same flight on vayama. (1300 something). Those fees are killer... Z class is the same thing, 3300 turns into 4500-5000 adding in the fees the airlines charge. Can you give us an actual example of how much you saved?
  22. Well that's a rough period. 1-11th of december and you can go for under 1200. Also, I found a series of flights for you 1763. delta to atlanta, korea to well.. korea :) then korea to bkk. return is bkk to seoul to iad on korea and iad to sav on united. Check out vayama for that flight. Total time is 28hrs. Not the most convenient series of flights, but at least you would only have to suffer delta for the short hop.
